  • Buganvilias Club in Puerto Vallarta

has been in the process of remodeling the units. We saw a model unit last January and they look really nice. Here are some pictures that I took with my iPhone.

The Buganvilias is the closest timeshare towards downtown Puerto Vallarta as far as I know and you can walk to the Malecon but not in the heat of the day.

We used to walk most of it over the beach but that isn't easy to do anymore since the Hurricane Kenna in 2002 because most of the sand is gone and the pebbles are large so uncomfortable to walk on today. I wonder if the sand will come back one day? I hope so.

We will be there on January 22 and are looking forward to it.

View from the Buganvilias model unit on the top floor of Building A.

View towards the Sheraton Buganvilias Hotel & Convention Center as well as Puerto Vallarta towards the marina and Nuevo Vallarta in the distance.

View towards the older timeshare buildings from the tall tower building "A". Building "D" looks over a vacant lot and has a good view over the ocean from most units except the ground floor, maybe. You can also see the lights from the Malecon and hillside at night which is very nice.

Building "C" looks over the pool and the ocean but there is a Palapa that may block some view of several units. Again, I am not sure.

The little building in the front is the "B" building and all units there are oceanfront and are fixed week/units as far as I know and the same for Building "C" and "D" but all the units in tower "A" are floating.

Seating arrangement in the living room area.

Murphy bed in the living room area. I don't remember what size but it looks like a double bed to me at least.

The big Palapa on the right is the restaurant "La Villita". They have a nice Sunday Brunch here. The pool is warm enough in January when we are there.

Partial kitchen with stove top, microwave and refrigerator.

I don't see a dishwasher but there has to be one because we have it in our 1 BR unit. There was a charge for using it last January but I don't know how much.

The model looks colorful and bright.

Master bedroom with a king size bed.

Master bedroom has a flat panel TV now too.

Bathroom. I believe that there were two. It is so long ago that I took these pictures so don't remember anymore.

Tub shower combination in the bathroom.

Thanks for posting these. We love Puerto Vallarta, but we never want to be at Neuva Vallarta again--too far from the Zona Romantica, which is where we spend most of our time. I don't mind being at the Marina, but these units look lovely.

I will be at the Buganvillas in July. I have stayed in the refurbished units on the first floor facing the ocean.

My contract is over next year and I will not renew unless i get a good deal on a two bedroom resale which is highly unlikey.

Owners are treated like owners at this timeshare . you get a good opportunity to get prime units. If you are an exchanger and the place is not crowded, you can get an oceanfront if you arrive early

Emi, Great pictures! We like Buganvilias but I think there is another one closer to downtown area. The name is WIVC Casa de la Playa. My friend owns there. The location is good but the amenities can't be compared to Buganvilias.

Buganvilias resort - try before buying

I own two timeshare packages at the Sheriton Buganvilias. One I purchased after staying there the first time in 2008, and the second one I purchased at a bankruptcy auction. If anyone would like to stay for a week or two I am happy to rent the unit (Presidential Unit - 1 bedroom with 2nd unit next door) to see if you like it. Avoid the heavy pressure to attend a presentation that is promised to last 90 minutes but like all the others will take 3-4 hours.

That said we feel the value provided by these timeshare is fantactic due to the wonderful location, tremendous service, high-end property, etc. We usually spend 2 weeks per year at the Buganvilias.

Send a note if interested to me at datablade@earthlink.net

            .
DH and I visited Emmy and her DH at the resort - she has a fixed unit in that "little Building B" overlooking the ocean - what a peice of paradise! The rest of the resort seemed very busy as it is a large resort and hotel but sitting in her living room or on the balcony was just wonderful. I can not comment on the location as we did not spend time downtown (staying in Nueva Vallarta) but the resort itself was very nice.

Watch eBay. Our two 1-bedroom units expire in 5 years and they wanted more than we were willing to pay for one guaranteed oceanfront unit that had 25 years. We bought a 2-bedroom Imperial Suite that had 20 years left on the contract for $5.50 including closing and transfer fees while sitting at the Buganvilias beachfront sunbathing area on our last day at the resort. The weeks are not winter, but we generally travel to PV in October or November, so that works great for us.

                Hi pittle!!!!!

Emmy, thanks for sharing these pics. I am contemplating an exchange to Bouganvillas thru RCI in July if I can't get what I want thru II with an expiring deposit. We of course love PV, have stayed at many resorts but never Bouganvillas so we were thinking to give it a try. I am convinced now to try it after your thoughts and pictures.

                  Emi,
How long will you and Peter be in PV? We leave Wednesday AM from Cancun area to Puerto Vallarta. Reservations are 29 Jan-5 Feb 2011 at Puerto Vallarta Resort - Velas Vallarta Suite Resort & Convention Center

We still own week 39 at Buganvilias so it would be nice to see what remodeling they have done.

                  p.s. Bezerk
Do you have advice regarding our drive or at least the last two days.

You are going to Velas..lovely, I just love it there. We are due there end of Feb., so will just miss you!

the drive....only advise I can give...go with the flow...ie: they drive aggressive here so you need to also or at least be very aware of other drivers ( drivers here take many risks, too many risks). Watch for topes ( speed bumps, potholes, do not drive in the dark.....many areas no lighting and loose animals etc. Bring a roll of toilet paper in your car for banos without TP.....this is pretty common in mexico, we do not travel without toilet paper LOL. Have a safe drive..oh if you get stopped for an infraction by police ( u did something wrong ie: red light, stop sign, speeding etc.) just ask for ticket or try crying has worked for my mom many times LOL....

Flexible, it was nice meeting you and your husband today and I hope that we will have a chance to meet bezerk too when she arrives in Puerto Vallarta.

The weather has been cool but beautiful for walking on the beach. We are seeing whales right from our condo and they are very close. I haven't used the pool yet this year as the water is too cold for me. Everything else is great but a week is too short. We are meeting some other timeshare forum people tomorrow and on the 31st. We will see you there and Karen too.

I'm trying to find the address for JoJack's in PV tonight. Hopefully others on this site see this message and post the address. We'd rather drive there.

Looking forward to the 31st also!
