Never flew on Turkey week, but usually fares go on sale around June for the post summer season. No reason to panic yet. I would be looking for something nearer $ 500.

I'm seeing cheap fares out of Hartford (Travelocity) and tho most end on Nov 15, a few in the 300s go on through Turkey week. I can't think of anyone who flies out of the east to Cancun at Thanksgiving, so I don't know how much demand there is. I can't see anything out of NY right now- but we often fly from Newark.

thanks for the info so far. That AARP site is good (pays to be married to an older person...... ) looks like we can get $640 with one stop on the way home, still high though. Spirit is up to $800 pp for our dates (11/18-25)...

If you have to lose a day in order to save a few hundreds I would either cut my trip short or extend the return date out.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Extending the return date is best as you will be there and have a chance to find and check out accomodations. Perhaps a trip to Merida and Uxmal after the timeshare stay.

I used them to send my son and a friend to Cancun in April for $450 total! - they aren't showing November yet, last date is in August but it is $99 each way.
They leave from JFK & Newark

Pat,
I just got an email from them, but can't access the reservations, keep getting an error message. I wonder if it's worth the risk of waiting til November goes on sale...but that sure would be a great fare!

Well, I clearly don't have the stomach for this. There was only one non-stop r/t flight from JFK to CUN for my dates, I have been watching for a couple of days as fares crept higher. I did find a slight savings on Mexicana for the same AA flight, so booked that. We really didn't have any flexibility with dates, the kids are already missing two days of school for the trip. And since we have family joining us, I needed two 2 bedroom units at the same resort (took Royal Caribbean ), feared I wouldn't be able to get that if I waited much longer (though there is still one left if anyone wants to join us)...
Does anyone know how it works if I get bumped from an AA flight with a Mexicana ticket (as in, will I be offered AA vouchers) ?
Anyway, I will keep an eye on usa3000 to see how wrong I was, I can always try next year if it looks like it will work. Although what I really ought to do next year is just buy the darn tickets in December... I always wait on the Thanksgiving trip thinking we won't go, then end up just paying too much...
Thank you all for your help and advice.
