Puerto Vallarta and the bay of Banderas can really use the help, our area is still beautyfull and crime is nowhere near what some media reports make it out to be!

    Thanks

The area (possibly the entire country) definitely suffers from a PR problem.

It does, too bad that the impression or the preconcieved idea of Mexico for a lot of people is completly wrong and far from reality... I as many hope this to change very soon.

I went to Puerto Vallarta 2 years ago and almost cancelled because of all the hype about the bird flu. We still went and had a wonderful time. It was sad to see how much the area's tourism was being hurt, first by the bird flu and then because of the crime.

I had a good frriend who has 2 phds and works for Los Alamos. He always contended that aids wasn't nearly the problem that the media made it out to be but because of the number of gays working in the entertainment and media, it got more coverage. Don't know how much validity there is to that but what does make sense the media can definitely affect what we see as major problems.

Signed Josh, put on facebook and Twitter.....the media hype is way out of proportion and focus....going to give one example when something happens in Mexico CNN for example reports this happened in Mexico, ok folks Mexico is a big country....they do not report oh this happened in USA..they say where, why and when....even when the flu thing happened, it was contained better in Mexico than in other more developed countries.....Could it be there are other factors involved in all this such as keeping money in one country, for economy etc. PV is safer for the common sense tourist than many other places.............

Thank you so much Bezerk! you are completely accurate regarding your comment on where, why and where! unfortunatelly a lot of foreigners (not only americans) get information from sources that are suposedly reputable but do not take the time and effort to really explain... Is as if you thought all of the US was like NYC! or that all of Canada was like Surrey BC! Mexico is the 16th largest country in the world, and Puerto Vallarta is trully blesed with great weather, incredible proud people, natural resources and scenery.

Thanks again to all for signing

It wouldn't be bad if the other US cities were like NYC. FYI, NYC is one of the safest large cities in the world. We just got back from there a couple days ago.

There is no doubt that New Yorkers are the friendliest most helpful people. I can't tell you the number of times when the people in New York have gone out of their way to help us.

That is sad. A major effort by local chamber of commerce is a great idea. Good luck!
