In the 70's, in their 70s, or 80s, my first grandmother and grandfather in-law, were kidnapped, robbed, stripped, and dumped, while on one of those wonderful vacations down south . . . somewhere.

    So, new sometimes is old.

(You have to be following really close for that one.)

    Have a sunny day.

A search for "Puerto Vallarta Tours" will show many tours to the back country. There has been no mention of canceling any of these and they have not caught the perps. I doubt they ever will catch and prosecute them but we can hope.

This makes me sad. My DH went to Mexico City on a family vacation when he was a teenager, in the 1970s. He often recalls that visit quite fondly--how interesting and vibrant Mexico City was. Remember when it was a big tourist destination? And now--when was the last time you heard of someone going to Mexico City for a vacation?

I went to Guadalaja/Tlaquepaque as a trainer for a sales organization in 1979 (?). It was nice, but we had scary incidences. It was different to see armed militia standing around.

            Yeah, even back then.

Certainly this was only one case. And right now it wouldn't stop me from doing many of the activities we're interested in doing in the Puerto Vallarta area.

The issue is that if they do it and get away with it, then it begins to happen more often. And that would have a major impacts, making tourism in Mexico a lot more like tourism in Guatemala.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

              “You shouldn't wear that body.”

So far we have had good luck in our travel to Mexico. This year we spent 2 weeks in Cancun where we drove a rental car over 1800 killometers then two weeks in Cabo with about 1200 killometers. In Cabo we did alot of nitetime cruising in the city. We never felt threatened anywhere in either location.

I am sure that the tourists on the tour bus didn't feel threatened before their bus was attacked.

Yes, a loaded gun pointed in my general direction would definitly make me feel theatend.

Tourists are easy targets where ever they go. The group on this particular excursion isn't the first or the last that will be robbed. Armed robbery happens every day. The odds are very low that any of us will be a victim of armed robbery, especially on an excursion. Here is a link to other cruise ship crimes.
