Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, a scam, joke, ripping people off!

2 weeks ago went down to Rivera Maya, to stay at the Grand Mayan through a RCI exchange from a timeshare I already owned. Im stupid enough to listen to the salesperson "Enrique" from Grupo Mayan sell me a studio bedroom at the Mayan Palace. Told me I would get 1 week, and another two for free! OMG Great deal right!? better yet, "We'll give you 700$ if you dont use the week so we can rent it out to others, per week!!" Sure! Now Im here, finding out I cant rent the room out for jack m-fing shi... excuse my language. The timeshare isnt worth jack. Grand Mayan Claims to be able to sell my other timeshare I already have within 3-6 months. and now im finding out I have to sell it myself! and the f-ing guy had the nerve to say "Welcome to the family!"

Bottom line, dont buy anything from the Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, Grupo Maya... etc. They'll say ANYTHING to get you to buy and in the end nothing is truth. Dont rely on them selling your timeshare, or renting out your weeks, they have no part in it. Sigh Im out another 10g...

You should have read the contract and rescinded it when you saw that none of that was in your contract. Unfortunately it is now past the 5 day period for you rescind it.

Why would you buy there when it is so easy to exchange into? We have spent 8 weeks at the Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya and love the resort. However we would never buy there or at any resort in Mexico. We exchanged through SFX.

My mistake at the sale was believing that they would actually rent out the studio weeks for me. and that they would sell my old timeshare for me if I purchase the Grand Mayan Timeshare. I enjoyed the resort dont get me wrong, it was lovely, but their selling tactics are awful and unfair. youre right I should of read the entire contract before buying, but who has the time or eye diligence to read each and every line? in the end it is my fault, however here's my chance to let people know to learn from my mistake, and read those lines before signing. Especially at the Grand Mayan, like Ive said before, they'll say anything to get you to sign.

I noticed that you posted on TUG too and have received some great advice. Contact the Customer Services email you were given and they will most likely help you out. I would suggest that you state your case and eliminate any expletives in your email to them. Be professional - as the old saying goes, "Kill them with Kindness." Let them know you are unhappy as you did not get what you thought you bought and really do not want to be part of the membership.

We own Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan - love the resorts, just not the sales staff.

        Good luck.

Just wanted you to be aware of something. Many members post negative posts about there dealings and let the Group they were dealing with know about the posting. Well then once the Company finds out they tend to want to deal with you but they want these posts gone. Just letting you know before you ask we do not remove these posts.
Like you said they are here to help others and we want to keep it that way

I think sometimes what happens is that instead of contacting customer service first, people post emotionally. Look I've had some frustrating experiences with both HGVC and Grand Luxxe, but have always found that when I point it out to them, it is corrected. The only comment that I have about HGVC that persists is that buying direct from them is too expensive. With GL/GM/GB, you have to be sure everything's in writing. But I would say that in any context with any significant buy.

                  Dear Readers,

Before you purchase anything, you should always read your contract. Although if you have made the mistake of purchasing a timeshare without fully understanding the contract you don't have to keep it and continue paying it.

The timeshare contract is cancelable and your monies can be refunded. You are not alone.
