  • Warning Marina Grand in Mazatlan Presentation fraud

This outfit must have taken the playbook from the Former Belaire in PV.

This appears to be a 12 unit complex with only 3 bedroom units and only the Model unit is ready for use.

1st the claim through their " Trade Idea " that you can stay anywhere else 12 weeks per year in studio suites with a 4 week package from them. They never explain or show you how this works, but refer to it many times.

2nd they offered me over retail for my El Cid points and said I would still be able to use the El Cid resorts for less than I pay now. Then the big thing came up. They only needed $12450 down today and in 30 days after First American Title in San Diego finishes the " Title search" they would wire me the $43500.00

Once I convinced they I wasn't buying they had someone escort me outside to await my gift, only to have someone come out and tell me that they had determined that I didn't qualify for the tour therefore they weren't giving me the promised tour gift.

So be forewarned and advised in advance, these people are scam artists on the level of the BelAire in PV, with this " Trade Idea" that seems too good to be true, and can't possibly be true.
There is no title on a Mexican timeshare, so using a US title company to do a title search is just smoke, and then taking a down payment today only to send you your agreed sales price 30 days later is also a huge red flag.

Then even stoop to withholding the tour gifts adding insults to injury.

So it seems these folks are part of La Jolla's sales team

Thanks Frank, it appears that they are know for this in the area, it seems these folks are part of La Jolla's sales team.

We had a guest here at the El Cid Marina that bought at the Grand Marina and sold them his 800,000 El Cid points for over 100K , just had to pay $22,000 upfront. Well he decided he had made a mistake and went back to cancel.

They supposedly threatened him with bodily injury.
He had a security guard outside his suite here for the week he had left.
The El Cid staff helped him get a partial refund using Profeco. I just had to post this as I heard about it last night from a reliable source in management here at El Cid.

So we were just at a presentation at the Marina Grand - they told us they would pay us for our Grand Mayan and our La Jolla timeshare if we paid the $2500 Closing costs. We did it - should we cancel the credit card transaction NOW!!???

And don't expect those two timeshares will change ownership, whether or not you cancel payment.

Cancel your contract quickly because you only have 5 days to do this in. I would send a copy to Profeco too as that may give you more leverage. Please, Google for Profeco in MX. It is a consumer protection agency over there.

They may call you and offer you another option but do not fall for it because they are trying to stall you long enough so that your time of recission has run out and you are stuck.

Good luck and keep us informed.

sorry, to come back to your post. You first need to read your contract because there is a section where it tells you how to rescind. You need to do exactly what it tells you to do and make sure that you have proof that you mailed it or a signature and date if you go there in person. If you do it wrong, you have no leg to stand on and this is also proof if you dispute it with your credit card company.

They are taking over 3 other timeshares we have ,for 35,000. Now this Tony wants another 2000.00 for closing costs. We donot want to loose more money but do not want to loose the 10,000.00 any help would be great thanks Carol Nicholson.

Sounds very familiar. Visited their site, had a nice breakfast, heard their spill, said nice offer but we were just not ready at that time. Thank said thank you for coming et cetera and that our gifts were with the cab driver out front. Were practically thrown out the front gate. When I started to complain while still inside 3 men appeared and made it very clear I was to get off their property. Was really glad my wife had told the person who arranged our tour that we wanted half of the offered money up front as that was all we got for our time. Guess being paid $200 for 2 hours of time was not all that bad but would advise anyone NOT to fall for this apparent rip off operation.

WE had similar experience. Stay away. We fortunately got half our gift upfront, they escorted us to gate when knew we were not buying and told us we had already gotten more than we should have. My husband was so mad. I stood inside property gate, and was lightly pushed and then a guard showed a gun..hubby remained mad. Words were passed, finally I got hubby in taxi and we hightailed it out of there. No more timeshare presentations for us...Resind resind..nothing happening there anyway..all lies.

We are staying at the Marina Grand right now. We bought a small package to start, because we need to trust the company before we invest more money. We bought a larger package this year as we are getting closer to spending more time out of the cold (my husband is retired and I will be in a few years). They are very customer service oriented. This is a small company (not like our other large time share companies - where we also have weeks). So they probably cannot afford to give the gifts to people who are not serious about buying into this property. One day, while we were sitting waiting for a cab - two ladies came in and it was obvious they were only here for the money for doing the presentation. I am not even in this business and could see it clearly. They did not waste the ladies time or their time and simply got them a cab back to their hotel. We are very pleased with our purchase and will be coming back here for years to come. It is a quiet place and a very nice location (close to Walmart for shopping and right across the Marina for restaurants, music, and walking). My friend here brings her kayaks (we are right on the water). I am very pleased with our purchase. It does create anxiety when you spend money and are not 100% confident in the product. Our experience has been very good. Everyone here is helpful and goes the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay. My only complaint is the wifi is slow and weak in some areas - but that just forces me off the internet, which is not such a bad thing and the hot tub is not hot - but they are working on that now.

That is how the numbers game works or timeshare ball. The folks go tto presentation like the place, how they are treated how they feel and maybe they buy then or maybe later. Not important whether you are big or small, you give what you offer. You do not manhandle or judge whether someone wil buy or not. We own over 10 timeshares and we have bought at places we never expected to..sorry this place is a runner...fast as you can..
