  • Mayan Palace Regency Collection Mazatlan...planning help !!

So today I accepted a unit at the Mayan Palace in Mazatlan. I will be driving in from Nuevo Vallarta and was wondering what the parking situation is at this resort. I was told its free parking. I always feel compelled to tip the valet unless I have access to the car myself.

Also, if anyone has had a two bedroom unit I am wondering if its a lock off or what. I have a two bedroom unit reserved and from looking at the resort website it looks like it has two bedrooms.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bill

No, its older, but not as old as the Sea Garden that is next to it. I gave them a call and in regards to parking they said its self park in their parking lot. As far as the 2 bedroom unit I think its a lock off.
As far as location in Mazatlan Im not really sure where anything is at or what to do in Mazatlan at this point. It will be Carnival week so there should be plenty to do.

We have 3-4 people that go there often so maybe 1 will log in. If it is an older MP then yes it is a lock out with the living area in the middle, Sofa beds roll out from the bottom and you can fit more than what they say the room can hold

You will have a great time during Carnival week.It will be very busy with the majority being Mexican Nationals. The Carnival in Mazatlan is one of the big ones in the world. Mazatlan is much larger than Puerto Vallarta.

It is about a 6 hour drive from Nuevo, they have plenty of self parking. The 2 bed units in all MP resorts are a 1 with a hotel lockout attached. This resort is about 4 or 5 years old and shares the grounds with the Sea Garden. The city has lots to do, we have been here for 4 weeks and have another 4 before we head north. Enjoy.Greg

                Thanks Greg and everyone.

How far a walk is it to the Carnaval Festival from the resort ? I will have a car and can drive to old town but Im thinking the parking lots might be full. I also thought that I might rent a motel unit overlooking the parade route so we could watch from a veranda and park in their parking lot. This is the planning part.

                  Bill,

It will be packed for the 5 days of the Carnaval. This is a huge event. rentals etc. are reserved a year in advance but you could get lucky. Hopefully you will find this link helpful.

The buses run right out front of the resort, trying to park in town will be very hard. I think the Cerritos/Juarez is the bus you want, but check with the front desk at the resort. fwiw, Greg

Greg knows more about Mazatlan than most anyone. We stayed in the Mayan Palace (Regency) in Mazatlan when it first opened in February 2008. It is on the Sea Garden grounds. The pool is nice and the beach is small. THe units are regular Mayan Palace units - kitchenette with small fridge and 2 burner cook-top, microwave, blender, toaster, coffeemaker. You can catch a bus right outside the gate - for return bus trips, always look for the bus with Cerritos on the front. This resort is not huge like other Mayan Palace resorts, so it is a very short walk to the bus stop. We took the bus into town quite often and also walked down to Cerritos to eat a few times. The Cerritos Beach Resort has a nice little restaurant and the Beach Witch is very popular. Roy's is in the Cerritos strip shopping area just past the RV park.

We were there for Carnival too. The bus is the best way to get there and back.

There is a large parking lot and it is free.
