  • Cancun Restaurant reco's?

I thought I'd find a thread on this here, but can't seem to locate one. We will be going to the japanese rest. in the Marriott at least once, and probably have Thanksgiving dinner at VCI (not fantastic, but tradition w/us).

It's been several years since we were last there, so please tell me what your favorite restaurant is in the area.... we'll be staying at Royal Caribbean, leaving this Saturday

    thanks!

I like El Conquistador at the Mayan and La Parrilla downtown, Savios and La Fisheria in Plaza Caracol among others.

Tony gives some good suggestions. Another suggestion is La Capilla Argentinean Steakhouse in the Marriott Casa Magna.

Glitter, are you only staying one week? We're staying at the Sands the following week.

Yes, only one week, the kids are missing two days of school as it is.

Tony and Norm, thanks for the suggestions

I can't remember the name of the joint, but there is a good, reasonable priced sea food restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Plaza Caracol. It's run by the same owner that used to have the Italian restaurant on the first floor.

            That sounds like La Fisheria.

Yep, that's it! Have you eaten there and agree/disagree that it's good?

Yes, we like it and I'm not a fish eater. They make a decent pizza there too.

                    In no special order
                    1. Puerto Madero: seafood specialty but with steaks (sister restaurant of Cambalache)
                    2. Lorenzillo´s
                    3. Casa Rolando: Italian in plaza Caracol
                    4. Laguna Grill
                    5. VIP´s for breakfast (behind convention center)
                    6. Chili´s in La Isla

Is it Rolando or Rolandi ? At any rate, I've never eaten there, but everyone who tells me they have say it's great. There is also Pizza Rolandi, downtown and various places which also gets kudos.

If You do not care about Price. The most romantic and best restaurant we ate at was at The Westin. I forget the name but when you call just ask for the restaurant downstairs. The waiter service was 5 star and they even make you a paper flower. All drinks are made at the table.

I also enjoyed Farohs Lighthouse. Get there early and reserve a seat by the window so you can see the show at Tango Mangos.
Now if you want real fun go to Carlos and Charlies. It is wild!

I can't remember if it was Carlos and Charlies or Senor Frogs, but one of them gave my kids toy rifles to run around the restaurant with. And even though my youngest is now 12, he's still asking to go back there

The Westin sounds nice if we can get an evening alone; otw there will be six of us, not a romantic bunch...

I think Faro's and Mango Tango are out of business since Wilma.
