  • Back from Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Mazatlan

    Hi all,
Got back late Monday night from trip to Mazatlan. The Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay is without a doubt the best timeshare we have stayed in so far. It was top knotch all the way. The rooms were nice, the views from balcony were great (facing the ocean), the main pool complex covers about an acre or more. The beds all have pillow top matresses and there is a pillow menu with choice of soft down, firmer down or foam piices, you can just call housekeeping and have them change pillows to whatever kind you want. Maid service daily and turn down service in evenings with with snickers left on pillows. Mazatlan is a great place to visit, lots of fun. It's a bit of a hassel getting there from east coast but we enjoyed it so much that we have decided we will go back but probably for 2 weeks instead of 1 next time.
I will do a review for review section today.
I have some pics posted at webshots at:

I have to give credit for the sunset pics to my wife as I had left my camera in the room the night we had the most incredibly sunset. Luckly Linda had brought hers along.

Glad to hear that you had a good time. Mazatlan is one of my favorite places to visit. Your wife's sunset pictures are incredible! I can imagine spending two weeks there easily.

What all did you do besides relax, and what were your favorite restaurants? Did you go to a MazInfo or MazAmigos gathering?

Were you in a 4/2 jr. suite? Do you have a recommendation of a particular bldg or unit number? TIA!

Yes, the sunset that night was spectacular. It was the first day that there had been a few clouds in the sky and the clouds made for a more colorful sunset than any of the other evenings (not that I am complaining about not having any clouds, the weather was great the whole week).I was kicking myself for not having my camera for it.
I had all good intentions of going to a MazInfo gathering that last Sunday but we were so busy that day that it didn't happen. It's hard to say where the time went we tried to get in to town each day and spend some time at the resort in the pools etc, the time seemed to just fly. We didn't get a chance to eat in "old town" which I will make time for next time. The restaurants that we liked best were Poncho's on the beach and Angelo's at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan. We went to the Mexican Fiesta at the Playa Hotel in the Golden Zone and that was a pretty good show and food was very good for a buffet and all your drinks included. We also went dancing at the Playa a couple of times. I am not much of a dancer but my wife loves to dance and we have been taking lessons. They have a club at the Playa where they have live bands every night and a lot of locals go there. The fast latin music is very fast tho but we had a great time after a couple of drinks.

Carol, we were in a 6/4 Master Suite. The Jr.'s are plenty big tho, but we liked this because I am an earlier riser than my wife and with the bedroom I could get up early go in the living room make coffee and turn on the TV and let her catch a couple more hours sleep. Most of the Master suites don't have an actual balcony, they have this sort of round alcove where the dining table sits with floor to ceiling windows all around. The one we had was in building 18 and did have a balcony instead, which we really liked.
I am not sure of all the building numbers but I like the lower buildings better. They are closer to the water and building 18 where we were was right in front of the ocean where as some have the pool between them and the ocean. I think that the upper floors have the best views especially if you are in one of the buildings on the upper level.

                Ken,
I was just going to post my review but the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay is not in the Resorts Database just the other Pueblo Bonito is.
Can we still add resorts to the Database and if so how?

I need you to add a trouble ticket as with the various upgrades in the site I never created a new "Add Resort Page". I have three others I need to add as well so if I don't have to work this weekend I will add them then.

How wonderful you had such a nice vacation in a beautiful resort. Yes, the sunset pictures are beautiful and you were lucky that your wife had the camera. I like the flower and bird pictures too and thank you for sharing

Ken, have you tried the free Google Picasa Web Albums? It is super fast and I really like the simple layout. A TUGger used it for showing his pictures. I don't know if you can upload original size pictures like with WebShots and Smugmug.

Emmy, thanks for the tip. I will take a look at it. I usually cut the size down on pics for on line use anyway so they will load quicker when viewing.

                              Ken,

I ended up in bldg 18 when I asked for a high up floor. They originally had me assigned to 1116, which I'm glad I didn't get 'cause I heard somebody at checkout complain about bugs and getting bitten up in a first level unit. My unit was 1835 and except for some idiot upstairs who dragged furniture over the marble floors at any hour, I have no complaints whatsoever about my unit. Very clean and well-maintained, and the resort is lovely indeed...but too far out of town for an active person like myself. Of the four t/s resorts I've stayed at in Maz, PB Emerald Bay is my second fave...right after the original PB in the GZ.

Thanks again for your tips, and your review is excellent. I can't really think of anything else to add that you haven't covered!
