  • Free Pacifica Club

As some of you know, we have been taking care of our elderly neighbor for awhile. He is quite a character and has had quite a life. He is from SOCAL and used to hobnob with the old-time movie stars. He had race horses on the popular CA race tracks. He was a real estate developer, an author, and a member of the first unit to fly military helicopters.

On Halloween night he summoned us, barely able to do that. He has been told that his illustrious life is drawing to a close. His ex-companion of 21 years has come back to get his affairs in order, a promise they made to each other. She is in over her head and I am helping with what I can.

He (they) owns two weeks at Pacifica Club in Ixtapa, units known as Senior Club. They appear to be 1-bedroom units and show up in RCI as 6/4. I had to help him get the 2006 fees paid and I am certain they were $560 each.

It is a RTU that expires in 2016 and any weeks are available except for Easter, Holy Week, Christmas and New Years. They call it Gold season.

I have spoken to the lovely-sounding Anna Mendez in Mexico City and there is a $300 transfer fee.

RCI Endless Vacation recently did an story on Ixtapa.

    So, there you have it.

          The Clock Is Ticking

My neighbor and his ex-companion are waiting to hear from their timeshare advisor.

What I have done is contacted the resort company in Mexico City and found out how to remove the ex-companion from the membership contract. I have prepared a letter doing that.

If no one is interested, that's what they'll do, remove the ex-companion from further obligation, and then let nature take it's course.

            That's what has happened.

We removed the ex-companion from the contract and then last night nature took its course and we lost George.

Now I Am the Handyman for the Ex-companion!

First, I helped in getting the affairs in order so things would flow would the time came.

Now I am playing handyman to every little thing that needs to be fixed in the 40-year-old house.

The house is sold, already inspected, so I have told her to quit looking for stuff, that it is not her concern, but she finds more every day.

I have replumbed two sinks (one that is still leaking), found a leak in the propane line, etc.
