  • SEA GARDEN Mayan resort at Nuevo Vallarta have you been?

I have searched the boards and this Mayan property does not seem to be talked about. Can anyone give me any info? We have it on hold. (trying to find a last minute trip in that area for March 2 2007). ID # 6866.

Frank-- you seem to know ALL about Mayan properties??? any words of advice???

The SG resort in NV is far from the main resort pool. Also I am not sure if you are even allowed to go to the main MP pools. I would pass on it but would take a standard MP unit if it becomes available.

There doesn't seem to be anything else available that week thats not AI. I am finding that it must be a popular week. Running out of time..

If you must book your air and then book that. I feel you might get a MP or a GM in still. Keep in mind that the MF are being paid now and weeks are being banked. Worst case scenario you can try the independents. You can also book this and cancel if something better comes in. It will be worth losing the exchange fee it it does.

The Sea Garden is much smaller than the Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan, but is nice enough.

Of all the Sea Gardens, it is the only one that I would stay at. It is only 3-4 years old. It is close to the bus route so you can take the bus into PV. It has a nice little restaurant and small pool. It is on the same beach as the rest of the MP properties. The condos are between it and the Grand Mayan. I don't think you can use the facilites at either of the other resorts.

If you do not plan to spend a lot of time in your room or on the beach, I would take it. We were in PV recently and found that we spent most of our time in Bucerias at beachfront restaurants or in town. We basically used our rooms for sleeping. Of course there were 11 of us, so someone always wanted to go somewhere. When it is just the two of us, we spend more time at the resort.

I stayed at the Grand Mayan but would definitely stay at this resort, too. The beach and pool are lovely - in fact there is a pool that runs right along the beach...very cool.
We felt that ths was a wonderful location and would return.

My family also stayed at the GM, but we had to go over to the MP to use the internet or eat dinner at the restaurants there (a short walk, but not as convenient as being available in the GM). Toured both resorts and would return to either. Pools and wave pool were great! Beach was great! Can't say enough good things about our stay there. Both resorts a 10 in our book. Due to lower cost of living, there was daily maid service and it was great. Be ready to tip them generously as they make very little. Also, if you have a rental car, both resorts have valet parking only, another daily expense for tips...
Plenty of activities/excursions to do in and around PV.
If you take the jungle tour near the old site of the "Predator" movie set. There is a great restaurant there where you can eat, then take a dip in there stream. They also have jungle zip line rides if you want to zip through the air! Both activities can be viewed from your table.

That was our first trip to Mexico and we liked it so much we're going back to Mexico again this year. This year we are going to Cancun, with an exchange into a 2 bedroom unit at the Imperial Fiesta Club at Hotel Casa Maya.

Have a great time; we sure did!
