I found two Mexico 2000 Peso banknotes March 1989 are they still worth anything?

They are probably only good as toilet paper. Mexico devalued and reissued their money in 1993. Current money is "New Mexican Pesos," and the top value is 500 pesos, which you will see as $500MN (MN=moneda nacional), or just $500 with one line through the dollar sign, when two would be USD.

You can see current pictures of the money here: http://tinyurl.com/27nl2p

$1.USD is worth about 10.95NM right now. If you don't change money most places will only give you 10 to 1...

It would be fun to frame them. I wish I found some laying around, it would go with my Mexican theme I'm using in my home. Anyway, even if you could trade them in for the new currency, they wouldn't amount to much.

        Fern's link included this info
If you happen have bills that are from 1970 to 1992, they are out of circulation. In 1993, Mexico issued "Nuevo" pesos (new pesos) in order to stem inflation, and the last two zeros were removed from the value - in other words, an "old" peso bank note with a face value of $10,000 was worth what a $100 nuevo peso bill is worth today($10 USD). Currency from this time period is common, and is no longer accepted for exchange. In general, the only value of circulated Mexican bank notes from this time, should you happen to have some, is as a souvenir or novelty
According to this each bill should be worth about $2 but is no longer accepted for exchange.

          Thanks everyone
Now I don’t have to wonder whether the pesos are any good. I will leave them at home.

For now on I am going change my money back to us dollar. ASAP

Ken, if you're asking "are the coins from that time also no longer accepted?"

The answer is yes, they are no longer accepted.
