We are planning to go March 23 with two other couples. I exchanged into one unit with my Krystal week and got another week through RCI rentals. I sent an Email to Carolina Rodriguez in August 2006 to see if I could use one of my bonus weeks (I have never used them) I received when I bought at Krystal. She Emailed me that I could have a room at $63 per night and asked for a credit card to hold it.
I inquired a few more times and she finally answered on 11 January 2007 and said she didn't have the reservation and the rate would go up to $150 per night because of "super high season dates of holy week and easter weeks."
I replied to her that I had send the credit card number via vax and I expected to pay $63 per night---she hasn't replied!
Anyway, I am thinking maybe some "spring break" people will cancel when they realize they need passports???? and/or I can pick up a cheap week at the last minute on RCI - maybe not even at the Krystal, but somewhere in PV - since I already have plane tickets.
Actually, I thought the bonus weeks were for a unit similar to the one I purchased - a Jr. Suite.
My daughter got their plane tickets for $1,090 (for 2) and I paid $1,200 and the other couple waited because they thought the price would go down and ended up paying $1,540.
I have learned my lesson to never again travel during spring break.
