  • Anyone Been to Lindo Mar PV?

Now that Lawren was so wonderful to hook me up with a week at Lindo Mar in PV when the Krystal messed with my reservation, I am wondering if anyone has been there recently.

I have read lots of reviews, including TUG reviews, and they all sound great. Sounds like they have a nice restaurant at the resort and another popular restaurant (El Set) close to the resort.

I'm wondering if there are any cruises that depart from that area, or do they all leave from the Terminal marina.

I am really excited about this place. It sounds wonderful.

    Muriel,

I know scritchr <sp> Ruth has been there often. She asked if there were any 2 BDRMs at Lindo Mar in the fall for her to get thru TPI. <There are and she is working on depositing her weeks to exchange>.

Ruth is a real sweetie. If she doesn't see this thread, I think you should PM her.

Everything I read makes it sound very nice and I know the rep at TPI made absolutely SURE there were no issues before she "found" the week for you. I hope it works out well for you and you have a lovely time.

As always, I can't wait for resort and unit pictures and a review. <Vacationing vicariously thru others is a hobby of mine!>

      Lindo Mar

Lindo Mar is a wonderful little resort. It is not for everyone. If you like the mega resorts, chances are that this sweet little place is not your cup of tea. LM is very small. There is barely room for the small pool and hot tub. The beach is tiny when the tide is out and non-existant whe it is in. However, ther e are beautiful rocks that emerge from the water as the tides recedes and the beach is perfect for relaxing with a book. Snorkling is great around the rocks.

La Playita, the on site restaurant, is great. They serve the 2nd best tortilla soup I have ever had. The best was at Cascadas in Cabo San Lucas. La Playita has a brunch on Saturday and Sunday that runs about $9.00 US. The Mexican citizens come on Sundays after church and there is a long line. Go early. It is well worth the $$. The waiters always tease that they will give you a "window seat", one of the tables right on the ocean. There are a ton of them.

      ps
If you PM me your email address, I will email you some pictures of Lindo Mar's grounds and rooms.
They have Happy Hour 2X a day and ring a big bell. The guests all come out at the afternoon Happy Hour and it is fun to meet everyone. The resort is so small, that you get to know the people by the end of the week. We have enjoyed going 2 years in a row at the same week and seeing the same owners there.

The rooms at LM are nice but not fancy. We thought they were nicer than the Sheraton Bouganivileas (which we also love). They are very traditional Mexican.

The tours leave the Marina. You will have to take a taxi there. It is super easy. The busses stop about one block from LM and the taxis are in front day and night. Also, LM is just south of the Romantic Zone, where may wonderful restaurants are. So easy to hop on the bus for 50 cents and get to a great spot for dinner.

El Set is right next door. It has good food and is more upscale than La Playita. We liked that we had 2 good places to eat without leaving for those days when you have overdone and don't wish to venture too far for dinner. There is a website that has PV coupons. One is a 2 for 1 at El Set. We take a few each trip and it saves some $$. If you want to know the site, let me know.

We loved the Rhythms of the Night trip. You take boat from the Marina to a beach where they have a stage set up for a play with native dancing. Then you go to a palapa for dinner (which was great). It was worth the money.

We also have done the canopy zipline twice while in PV. We love that. Did it in Hawaii and PV's was hands down better.

I hope this gives you some answers to your questions, Muriel. I sent you a PM, so if you want more info on PV, just reply to that.

Wow! Great information, Ruth. I am getting so excited. It's good to know about the coupons. My daughter and her husband and another couple are staying at the Krystal, but I love a change--and I like the idea of the rocks and the waves.

I gave up swimming in the ocean a few years ago and would just rather look at it - from the pool, the hot tub, and/or the room. LOL.

I have just recently been reading about the canopy zipline - sounds like fun. Maybe my daughter would go with me. The others aren't really interested in things like that.

I answered your PM but forgot to send my Email addy. I think it is in my profile, but if not I will PM you with it. I would love to see the pictures. I have "gathered" a few pictures of Lindo Mar and El Set and the surrounding area from various sites (webshots, IGOUGO, and LM site, etc.) and put them in a file so I can watch as a slide show. I'm sure I will enjoy more the ones I take when I am actually there, but this just whets my apetite.

We went on the "Rythyms of the Night" tour last time we were in PV, so don't need to do that. My daughter and I were planning to take a whale watching tour, but I think it will be too late in the season.

            Thanks, again, Ruth.

              We love Lindo Mar too!

We went to the Lindo Mar in Oct. 2005 for 3 weeks and loved it. We found it to be a very friendly place. We love the restaurant, too. The staff is great and get to know you. One staff watched for the cabs to come in and kept tract of your room number and the number of the cab. Most of the time you did not even know they were doing that. They said they did that in case you leave anything in the cab they will know who to return it to.
They also help you not to be bothered by timeshare tours and by not allowing any of the timeshare people on their property. If you take a timeshare tour you need to meet for the ride at the road or on the side of their property. Lindo Mar itself will talk to you about ownership, if you want, but it is very low key, no real tour and you receive a voucher for $25 off at their restaurant. They certainly do not bother you with it.
It was one of our all time favorite places and we hope to go again.
