  • Going to Cancun!

So I was playing a game I like to call II Wheel of Fortune. I put in about 15 resorts in about 4 different places and decided to let II spin the wheel and decide my next vacation. LOL.

I was switching around dates last night so when I got up this AM and checked my email-I thought the email from II which said confirmation was just confirming my new dates. Silly me-it was an exchange confirmation and I had no clue where I was going.
I took a deep breath and opened the file.......

It said I am going to Cancun!
    The Royal Sands.

I only added Cancun to the mix about 5 days ago.

I have never been to Mexico...guess I'll stick around and learn for a while.

Nice result. I'm not a big fan of the Sands, but it is a gorgeous resort. If you have any questions about the Sands or its sister resorts (free shuttle and full use of all) bring them up on the Mexico forum (sub forum- Royals and MP) or on this topic and if I don't know the answer and no one else does, I'll find out for you.

I ALMOST made it to the Royal Sands..... - but stayed at the Islander instead....all the Royals are really nice resorts with excellent customer service....I like nothing better than to veg out there all week looking at the beautiful ocean.

Be sure to call the resort directly the week before to confirm your reservation - if anything is out of order, call II to make sure it is taken care of before you arrive.
        You will not be disappointed.

        So when u goin'????

LOL! I almost called him a party pooper-but he offered help too-so I refrained.
I can't remember why he doesn't like the Sands-maybe he will elaborate. The size maybe. IF and apparently that is a big IF I get the unit on the confirmation then we will be in Phase 2 top floor. I'm pretty easy to please anyway.

Oh I know-I read your story. I have been searching the archives for Cancun and Royal info. If we get the unit on the confirmation then it's in Phase 2 top floor of the K building. We are going week 22- 5/31/08 to 6/7/08. I wanted to go in March during our spring break-but my DS plays HS baseball and baseball doesn't stop for vacations. Blah! LOL.
I am really excited. We were looking at Cabo and PV and may still try that too-but for now it's Cancun.
I have to correct myself. I have been to Mexico-a day trip out of San Diego to Ensenada-that doesn't really count though.
I am trying for the same week from SFX so we can take additional family. I hope my luck holds out.
I know I will have tons of questions. I can't see your Cancun pics Pat-I get the front page but Shutterfly times me out. Are they still available to view?

The Sands is a great resort, could be even better if they enforced their rules. Maybe it will not be as crowded when you go. My experience was that very few rules were enforced, unless you got up at six and put stuff on chairs/chaises around the pool or on the beach, you didn't sit anywhere. It just seems that there isn't enough places for all the people that stay there. The good thing is that you can take the shuttle to the tri-royals and do the beach or pool thing there. The restaurant there gets good reviews and the location is great- just a short walk from Kukulican Plaza and a bit more to La Isla. I Hope you get the penthouse, it would be a good start. Start off by reading this: Planning your timeshare vacation to the Royal Resorts in Cancun, Mexico -travel, dining, accommodations.
it should help some getting you ready for what to expect.

If you don't have your passport, be sure to order it ASAP. I hear that they have a large backlog and are running way behind on filling orders.

Thanks Tony. It is a penthouse unit-isn't it? I didn't want to say that out loud-bad karma.
I do hope it's not crowded-I don't enjoy the Mega Resort atmosphere. I had hoped for a Tri-Royal-but I'll take it.

If I wanted to be in Cancun IMO you are in one of the top resorts. All the royals are nice to stay at. Now if you can add 1 more week spend it in Rivera Maya or Cozumel which is just a short ferry ride out of Playa Del Carmen. Hey I am getting good at this. I think I got all the spelling right.

We are currently at the Royal Haciendas in Playa. This is our first visit to a Royal Resort. They are definitely at the top in quality and service.

Will be in Cancun on 5-4-07 at the Barcelo Tucancun. Just love traveling down to Mexico. Plan on using both my Cancun timeshares next year also. Enjoy
