Ohhhhh I loved those....the water always looks so pretty. I also enjoy looking at Sunset pics-the colors are often different from say a So Cal or Hawaii ocean sunset. More pink color in Cancun. Yes, please, more, more

Yup, you cant beat those sunsets! I staed at GR Solaris and I was very impressed. Try the trip to Playa Del Carmen and my fav Isla De Margarita! Rent a golf cart and see the island. Beautiful place, even though they were still cleaning up after the hurricaine when I was there March 06. Best of fun!

Tho some units are more desireable than others, don't count on getting the unit confirmed on line. Units are not assigned until some time before check in. You might call ISCO at 1-800-930-5050 about a week before you leave and see if they can tell you what unit you will be in. You might also mention that you have heard some nightmare stories of people even being switched to other resorts (maybe if they hear this enough, they will go back to the old system).

Well the one thing that is good about the Sands is that it is right next to the mall, and also most of the activities seem to be based there. We were at the Islander and really liked it...Tony, do you think the "towel on chair" problem is worse at the Sands than at the other Royals? It certainly was a problem at the Islander too.

For overall "feel" I like the Mayan best, and we didn't venture out that often. I think that, as long as you don't end up in one of those Mayan units that actually doesn't face the ocean, you should do okay. Some people don't like the ground floor because of the lack of view, but I thought it could be really appealing because you can just hang out on your balcony (which is more like a deck, really) and watch your kids in (or venture yourself into) the pool....not worrying about having to find a chair!

I've always seen more saved chairs/chaises at the Sands and earlier than at any other Royal.
