  • Mexico in November

From reading this forum it seems that Christmas through Easter is the most popular time to visit Mexico, but is there any reason NOT to go the rest of the year? We have just joined SFX (our first exchange experience) and received a Mexico bonus week for our deposit. This week must be used in 2008. We will not be able to go until fall / winter of next year, and are thinking of November. Other than it being the tail end of hurricane season, is there any reason not to go in November? We like the beach, but also want to do some inland touring. We are thinking of Cancun, but really anywhere in Mexico is great as we have never been. Any advise / opinions are welcome!

    Thanks.

Please forgive me if this is posted twice. I tried to post it earlier but I don't think it went through!

Cabo is very nice in November. Puerto Vallarta is nice at the end of November and I would imagine the first part may just be a little more warm and humid. I think the only hurricane to really hit the Puerto Vallarta area was at the first of November Hurricane Kenna We followed it by a few weeks and stayed at the Westin in Puerto Vallarta. The only months we avoid Mexico are mid July through September. Cancun may be more humid then but why pass up a chance for vacation.

Cancun is fabulous in November. It may sprinkle a bit more than other times, but on the whole the weather makes for a very comfortable vacation. Inland trips to places such as Merida or Chitzen-Itza are not quite as hot as the warmer months.

Well there's those pesky hurricanes...or do those end in October?

Hi Missiletoe - A possible misunderstanding.... there is no restriction on the bonus week having to be used in 2008. If you deposited a 2007 week, then your bonus week can be used from now and through the end of 2008.

          Hope this helps...

I could look up the historical weather, but the only November hurricane I remember was Mitch in week 43 and it wasn't much for wind, but brought lots of rain. I was there in weeks 40-42 that year and it was just starting to come in as we left the airport on the trip home. Though hurricanes can occur in November, it is rather unlikely and those that do appear tend to be fairly week due to the cooling waters of November. Mitch was more annoying than damaging in Cancun.

WE go to Cabo the first 2 weeks in November every year and love it. The weather is always perfect.

Okay then, November it is! Thanks all for your helpful replys. I'll request for anytime in November next year, as the way you all describe the weather in November it sounds perfect for us. We'll just take the (slight I hope!) chance on the hurricane season.

Mark, I should have worded my message more clearly. I did realize that we could use the week from now until the end of 2008, but we are going to Hawaii in October and it will be 2008 before we "recover" from our vacation.

                Thanks again everyone.

November is a great time to go to Mexico. Only Thanksgiving might be a problem because airfares will be expensive during that time.

FYI, the reason why November is such a slow season for travel is because it is too close to Thanksgiving, one of the most heavily traveled times in the U.S. (mostly adult children visiting their parents). Because so many people travel during Thanksgiving, most people are relunctant to do two big trips in such a short time. That's why November and the first two week of December are such bargains, but the weather is so nice in Mx, Carribbean, FL, AZ, etc.
