  • Greetings from the Grand Velas

We are here right now. The resort, pool and grounds are as beautiful as ever but the beach isn't there like we are accustomed to in Jan/Feb. The weather is absolutely dreadful. It drizzles non-stop and the ocean and sky are a dirty gray. Give me the season in the winter here. The meals and service is excellent and we love to see the staff again who has been here a long time since the very beginning.

Hi, Emmy, I hope your weather improves, and that you get some R & R regardless.

A little birdie told me you were oceanfront - pretty nice!
I am sure the weather will improve.

Until we have our condo listed with a broker. Right now we are interviewing a few.

Yes Pat, we got oceanfront and we can hear the waves at night with the doors closed which is very nice. The weather is even worse today and it is freezing cold. We have towels around us at the restaurant outside. If you check the weather on the Internet, they make you believe that it is over 80 F but in reality it feels colder than in the low 60's as the wind is strong and cold. I wished it would rain hard and then the sun would come out. We haven't seen a blue sky yet or the sun.

sorry to hear of your bad weather. It is rainy season in Jalisco though but usually only late afternoon or night rain. I am in Chapala ( same state) we have had lots of rain last 4 days but only at night except for today, drizzly and cloudy. The weather this whole year has been very strange in Mexico and all over the world. This past Jan/Feb. in PV and most of Mexico it was what we would consider downright cold.

Hope the rain gods let loose and get rid of the daytime rain for you and return to norm. I'd love to be in Grand Velas right now though, rain or not. I hate rain! Headed to PV July 10 to Velas, Club for 7 days and 5 days at Casa Velas, hope it is better weather or should I say more normal weather then.

Try to enjoy and fun anyway, though I know hard when rainy and dreary!

Yesterday, it rained cats and dogs so I expected the sun to be out today but it isn't. The weather is mild but still very cloudy and gray. It may be better tomorrow.

We heard from friends that the weather was very cold in Jan/Feb too when we were supposed to be here and at the Buganvilias but our trip was canceled. We are here alone but we know the staff and they are wonderful. They really treat us like royalty and spoil us. We like it here and today, we went to visit friends at the Villa del Palmar Flamingos which is also a very nice looking resort. We saw their 2BR condo with kitchen and 3 bathrooms. They really enjoy staying at this resort but the road is very bad with all the rain. Many deep pot holes. There is so much construction going on.

                        Emmy,

Sorry to hear that the weather hasn't been good. I hope it improves quickly, and that you and Peter have a wonderful time.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I have been told by Mexicans that the rain , so much and in daytime is due to a ciclone ( not quite sure what that means) ( storm) that was expected to last 5 or so days and should end in 1-2 days..........We had rain all day but at 4 ish the sun came old and the clouds seem to be passing, I hope. It is almost 1am and no rain, so who knows maybe tomorrow or today will be sunny for you.....I have my fingers crossed!!!
