I would choose Xcaret hands down over any of the others. My second choice would be to take the combo tour of Xel Ha and Tulum. The combo tour is a day tour that you can purchase at the Grand Mayan/Mayan Palace resort.

In my opinion for the ruins, I would pick Chichen Itza even though it is a long day. The ruins there are much more complete than at Tulum. There has been a lot of restoration done and it makes for a much more complete picture.
However, if you don't want to spend a whole day then Chichen Itza probably isn't for you. We left Grand Mayan at 7:00 AM and got back about 9:00 PM, but it was well worth it.
You can see my photos of Chichen Itza at:

They are mixed in with the rest of our Grand Mayan trip tho.

I agree with John Also Xcaret is not far from the Mayan resorts.

What great pictures! I can't wait to go to Cancun. Only 9 1/2 months to go.

The weather was so very unstable....Our side of Mexico we have rainy season and dry season...pretty much sums it up, plus the exact area where I live very temperate, which actually is not my choice as I like it hot, hot, hot and sunny, sunny! But I do not like humidity when hot, like it dry. Anyway we are glad we went to that side and saw all that we did and such but just we did not feel the water which everyone raved of was enough to draw us back...there are so many nice places here with great colored water and we can drive as opposed to flying, like Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo ( kind of teal color water).

That's right. I can stand hot weather but not the humidity. Since you have been to many places or beaches, which do you think is the best beach for you? I heard from other people that they would like to go driving too instead of flying when they go around. It will be a good exprerience though it might be tiring.
