Just got back from an afternoon walk from Brisas south to the Westin Regina and back. Yesterday went from Solymar up to El pueblito.

    Some comments from yesterday:

Did a walk about yesterday (3/21/06)

Some beaches seem about the same and some better. Most of the rocks that were previously uncovered by the last "norther" have been covered up again--including some sandbags.

Even with the strong waves now, no beach is worse than it was, only one (GRS) is about the same and the rest are better.

The new sand is AT LEAST as fine as the sand before if not finer. There are shells and bits of shells though mixed in in some places.

The horrible El Pueblito pic is the last building there that hasn't been repainted and that section is separated from the rest. I was able to sneak up the stairs and actually took some pics of the resort. OK so they haven't repaired their seawall yet but you can't do everything at once. Only part of the hotel is open but then that is the case with CPC also.

The Grand Royal Solaris Beach is as narrow as about 7 or 8 feet wide on the high part and then another 10 feet down below. About what it was last week.

I saw springbreakers, locals, families, kids and couples all having fun. And now without further ado, the pics at http://community.webshots.com/album/548792650gyYclC

Then if you have nothing better to do you can check out the rest of my albums about Cancun and other stuff at
    http://community.webshots.com/user/jimincancun-date

Lots of Wilma and post-wilma stuff, CAncun in general, my ranch, my trips and enough to put you to sleep for a while--better than sheep I guess. BTW don't miss the sheep on my ranch!)
Just kidding but thought some of you might enjoy some Cancun pics so
    ENJOY!!

p.s. first real post here--hope I did it right and in the right place. If not I trust a friendly neighbourhood moderator will move it to the right place. Thanks.

I enjoyed very much looking at your pictures, Jim. The first one shows such a beautiful beach. Will these high banks go away eventually or is that normal? We sometimes have it too in Laguna Beach but only a foot high or so. Your sand bank must be from the hurricane!

Pat, how is your vacation? I hope that you enjoy it.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Actually there was no beach at all after Hurrican Wilma sat on top of us for about 60 hours last October. A Belgian company is doing a beach recovery project and the dunes are part of it that will eventually level out--so they say. For more on "After-Wilma" stuff and especially the beach recovery project check out www.afterwilma.info and the link for the beach restoration info is on the right hand side.

            I sure am.......

Jim gets to vacation in Cancun ALL year long!

Jim, will be interesting to see what happens with the cliffs but it does make sense that they will start to slope with the times and people traffic.

Jim, thanks so much for posting all this. What are you hearing about Cozumel's recovery these days?

Haven't been to Cozumel lately but things are coming along--slower it seems than in Cancun but they are progressing.

The Palace Resort website just announced:
                "March 23, 2006
                Cozumel Palace
We are happy to announce that Cozumel Palace is ahead of schedule and will have its grand opening Saturday, March 25, 2006. The hotel will be fully operational and all services will be available."
