Sounds like this couple got off to a bad start. I would have been upset if I got the room that they discribed. I will say, I've never seen such a room there.
We had one bad experience there. But, most of it was due to a case of a bad employee at check in. There also was a septic odor in the bathroom drains.
The food that year was not up to the standards that we were accustomed to. But, it wasn't bad food. It just was not excellent.
I felt that the resort had suffered somewhat due to the syphoning off of experienced staff to open the new resort.
Without exception, everytime that we have vacationed at the Solaris, our room has been immaculate. We've given up putting the "we don't need anything" tag on our door. We're fairly tidy so we don't require services. It doesn't matter. The maids are in there stripping the bed, scrubbing the bathrooms, washing the floors and restocking the fridge. The public areas of the resort have always been super clean.
I am surprised about the food complaint. There is so much variety and there are so many choices of restaurants. For certain, many folks overdo the "all you can drink" and end up with digestive distress.
