edit - GREAT news about the wireless, I will bring my laptop!!
    Pat,

Call Verizon and have them enable International Roaming (if you don't already have it) I had to do something like #221 ( I think...they will tell you) before I left and then do the same thing when I landed back in the US. The phone switched over to whatever the carrier in Mexico was..TelCel? We made one call and I texted but I didn't have to use the Int calling code. I was at the GMNV as well.

When we went to Cancun we were on At&T and I had to figure out and use the codes but we switched to Verizon in between trips. Verizon is 99 cents a minute calling and something like .25 or .50 per text in or out regardless of whether you have unlimited texting at home. Oh...and of course if you listen to a VM it will cost as well. They will tell you this when you call Verizon. We have 4 phones and I just left 2 at home (the kids) so they were not tempted to text and run up my bill.

Hope this helps and have a GREAT trip!

It would be great to get together. It might be easier to use PM because sometimes I don't check the threads.

It would also be nice to learn about your thoughts on the other resorts. My husband purchased Sheraton Buganvilias for week 35-39 and that contract ends in about 7 years. Not sure if he ever used it. It does yield 45K RCI points though. Someone else mentioned a new sales manager at Buganvilias who came from Mayan. I'd like to know more. We could go to an owner's update at Buganvilias but haven't yet.

We were in Mazatlan Oct 4-31. Then PV Nov 1- 14 Feb. I was just able to book Mayan in Mazatlan today from 14 Feb - 28 March so we will be cancelling our Feb 14-28 reservations at Velas.

What do you think of Grand Velas' mandatory all inclusive of $220 per day per person?

I wish I had purchased some TS4SM logo TShirts to wear at Mayan or Velas. That would have made it easier to connect with others.

Also, I use a lot of social networking sites. I searched for Puerto Vallarta on Use the Internet to get off the Internet! - Meetup.com and saw a get-together for travelers on January 21 downtown so we put it on our list of things to do.

Just pick a time/place to meet in PV and let me know via PM or Skype. I'll PM my Skype ID to you.

Pat, I am glad you are coming so we finally do meet. There are a few other TUGgers here but I don't know if your dates match up with theirs. We have an unexpected timeshare guest Saturday night staying with us because her two timeshare condo dates do not match up and we have an extra bed. We have met before so it will be fun.

Quoting my own quote.....having thought about this overnight. Maybe my newer phone from Verizon is "smarter" than my old one. Thus, the reason it "knew" the calling code. You might want to ask to make sure. Otherwise-try this International Country Calling Codes and World Time Zones

We signed up for an update as I am curious what is new. It may be interesting but our decision is "no". We love our little unit here so won't give it up. Our friend already went and she didn't get high pressure. She also owns one of these older units on the ocean front and loves it too. You would have to give that up and pay a lot more money on top.
