  • Mexico in September??

We are looking to take a Mexico trip (using our SFX Bonus Week if possible) in September. We have been to Cancun and would like to look at other options.

Does anyone have suggestions for us - both place and resorts? The nearest airport for us to fly out of would be St. Louis.

Unless you like 110% humidity, you don't want to go to Mazatlán in September. Its the hottest, muggiest time of year. That said, if you plan to spend almost all of your time on the beach or in the pool, it would be fine...

Puerto Vallarta would be hot and humid too, and the same for Cabo. Also September is hurricane season.

Which are the nicer resorts on the West Coast that can be had via the SFX Mexico Bonus week. Also, what is the feeling on straight vs. All Inclusive. It would just be my wife and myself.

What are the nice resorts in Puerto Vallarta that are on the beach?

We have stayed at Paradise Village it has a nice beach and it was a great resort lots of activities our son really enjoyed it. Location was in Nuevo Vallarta.
We have also stayed at the Club Regina at the Westin, a nice resort in the Marina Vallarta area. But the beach was not nearly as nice as Paradise Village. The location at the Marina is closer to town. Plenty of restaurants in the marina area also. One other tip we checked in for our flight early on our last trip home, walked over the pedestrian bridge and ate at Islas Marias. Outstanding food, I had octopus and rib combo my wife and son both had the ribs which were as good as we have ever had.
We have not stayed there but for being close to town the Sheraton Buganvillas might be another choice. I dont know about the beach condition especially after hurricane Kenna a few years ago. They had said a lot of rocks were deposited.
We toured Rancho Banderas which was on a nice beach had a pool with waterslides, but my wife said she would not stay there because it was too far away from everthing. I believe you would need a car if you stayed there. From what I have read I wouldnt mind staying at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta or even the Mayan Palace Nuevo Vallarta, at certain times cheap weeks have appeared on Extra Vacations or Last Call ( I have not been on either property)

The beach at the Sheraton is awful with nothing but large and small rocks or pebbles and I wouldn't swim there either. The resort is nice and has a large heated pool. It is in walking distance of the Malacon and we used to walk on the beach as far as we could to town but now, the pebbles make it too hard to enjoy the walk. I wonder if the sand will ever come back?

The beach in front of Paradise Village is wonderful and very long and wide too. You can swim here and walk for miles. The Mayan Palace has a beautiful beach too. It's on the other side of the entrance of the marina at Paradise Village.

Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta is the best and you can get it quite easily through SFX. We just did a 2 week exchange to the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta the last 2 weeks in Aprils. We exchanged through SFX. The beach is very nice, much better than Cancun. The beaches in Puerto Vallarta are not very good but are very good in Nuevo Vallarta. It will be hot and humid. Nuevo Valarta is just north of Puerto Vallarta.
