I have a question for you and hope you will answer it.

Were the sales people at your resort aware of this timeshare forum or the other one or did you find us after you were fired? If they are aware of us then they should know that we try to warn the people and mention Profeco as a last resort when the rescission period has passed already but they felt that they were defrauded. We also tell people to buy re-sale because you save so much money and there are many available.

I wasn't aware that the waiver was still mentioned because it wasn't mentioned to us when we took our last timeshare presentation at the Mayan Palace or Club Velas. We also took an update at the Grand Velas and the Buganvilias. It wasn't mentioned here either. This is news to me. Please, tell us more.

Spence, we know but so many people are not aware of the lies that are told at some of these resorts. If the Timeshare salesman is willing to tell us more, I am all for it because some people may be saved a lot of grieve afterwards.

These resorts are very nice and most of the people, who work there, are too. It's the sales department that is not.

Everyone is aware of what is going on. Some honest salespeople go to work, do their honest job and go home. they are not the top three, but at least they have peace of mind when going home to their families.
Many salespeople know about these websites, they do not mind because PROFECO in reality is not a big concern to them. See, PROFECO can´t obligate the resorts to recover their monies.

I don´t know what percentage of cases are resolve satisfactory in PROFECO, but as far as the one I used to work at, the costumer service sometimes did´t even go to the hearings and not much could be done by PROFECO.

Many people already know about finding timeshares on the secondary market. The salesmen, again, tell half truths to persuade a client to buy a new one.

They avoid telling you about the waiver until they pass you to the VLO (verification loan officer) because it is illegal, they ask you to sign the waiver, they tell you all your signed contracts are in the folder and, once you leave, they rip the waiver in pieces.

I am not going to reinvent the wheeel here, You just have to use your common sense, If it is too good to be true, then it is.

but always, and I mean ALWAYS!!! stand up as soon as they tell you they are going to rent or sell your week.

            that will NEVER HAPPEN.

I'm just curious - how long did you sell timeshares?

My husband tried his hand as a salesperson at one of the big timeshare resorts in Mexico, but did not last long. He quickly discovered that he could not lie to people . (I knew that all along! ) He had a great "out" when I slipped on some ice back in the US about a month after he started working there and broke my elbow, so he needed to come home for my surgery and recovery. We just refer to it as the time he was trying to find himself after retirement or his "Excellent Adventure."

Now we just go to the timeshares that we have purchased (mostly resale on eBay). I will admit that we did by directly from the developer from two places on your list, but thoroughly enjoy our vacations at those resorts! That is what is most important - we USE them and did not plan for rental income - just enjoyment!!!

A little less than a year.

I agree with you, these resorts are beautiful and if you buy just to use, Timeshare is somehow a good option.

I hope you are ok from you elbow.

Why don't you tell us about how much we can get from your touts to get us to the sales meeting? What is the range your touts work with and what do they get out of it? How can we secure the incentive before we walk out in disgust after hearing all the lies and deceit?

Tell them you buy all your timeshares on ebay. After I told this to a salesman in Ft. Lauderdale over the buffet breakfast he smiled and asked me if I wanted my gift card now? Obviously he realized he was wasting his time with me. He even told me that I didn't have to tour the unit. I think he wanted to get rid of me faster than I did him. Made me laugh and at least he was good natured about it.

My advise is this " If you don´t want to fall victim, don´t go to timeshare presentations".

Take your money to spend and avoid going to these presentations.

Tell them upfront with a smile in your face that you understand this is the way they make a living but you will not buy anything today. that you hope they will respect the lenght of the presentation.

some will get mad, some will try to use an strategy to calm you down. at the 90 minute, stand up and thank them for the time. leave and get your freebies.
