Maybe it'd be a good idea to rephrase your question... what in the #### is a tout??? LOL - I had to look that one up myself.

Anyhow, I appreciate the responses so far from Timeshare Salesman and personally believe he's genuine. Have no reason at this point to not believe that.

TSS - I appreciate your time and your responses!

....I figured most of the louts in the timeshare industry knew what a tout was so they called a spade a spade. Now I am not saying TSS is a lout since he got out but most of them are. Ok how about this.....

      tout (tout) KEY

      VERB:
      tout·ed , tout·ing , touts

      VERB:
      intr.

To solicit customers, votes, or patronage, especially in a brazen way.

To obtain and deal in information on racehorses.

      VERB:
      tr.

To solicit or importune: street vendors who were touting pedestrians.
Chiefly British To obtain or sell information on (a racehorse or stable) for the guidance of bettors.

To promote or praise energetically; publicize: "For every study touting the benefits of hormone therapy, another warns of the risks" (Yanick Rice Lamb).

      NOUN:

Chiefly British One who obtains information on racehorses and their prospects and sells it to bettors.

One who solicits customers brazenly or persistently: "The administration of the nation's literary affairs falls naturally into the hands of touts and thieves" (Lewis H. Lapham).

Chiefly Scots and Irish Slang One who informs against others; an informer.

I think that people would want to ask the reasons or what would be on the other side. I thought that you were interested in knowing how the sales process works so you know how to prevent from being scammed again.

Most questions are on how to go to a timeshare presentation to get the freebies. Not even myself who I consider to be honest, like people like that.

There is also honest timeshare people who´s days are wasted because of people like these. Now I am feeling glad you are being taken advantage from.

You question my legitimacy and expect to answer silly questions such as "How to keep the presentation short?"

You can shut down this thread; I am not interested in answering silly questions about the length of the presentation or whether I am real or not.

            Good day.

I don't feel bad at all about just going to just get the free stuff. The hook on the street said, "you do not have to buy a thing." After 90 mins. I stand up, ask for my free gifts and leave. Also, with every free thing I get I count it against the amounts that the ts person got from me when he lied to me to get me to buy. Note: July will be my fifth year of being ts free!!!

since you quoted me...I will respond....first I HAVE bought developer and resale, so my question of how to know salesman is at bottom line and how to get him to that point is a legit ?. Second, I have gone into presentations without any intent to buy and lo and behold have bought, so thus without all the prospects brought in, then your odds as a salesman certainly decrease.

All resorts that offer OTS ( off the street) sales people to give incentives for presentation have an allotted budget for such, without these prospects hah, the salesman might never sell a unit....the freebies draw in the salesman's prospects....kind of like you win some you lose some..... a good resort , at a fair price, with bennies and freebies and an honest salesman, well who knows a deal might be born....oh and a good attitude..

You did not tell us anything we do not already know about the sales process to prevent being scammed.....all that has been said on this thread has been said before....though again it does not hurt to keep repeating it.

You write "I am feeling glad you are taken advantage of"...nice I assume that might be why you are not a timeshare salesman anymore....I have a few friends who do sell timeshares for a living and they would never write such a thing...

I never questioned you legitimacy and no question is silly......all questions have some validity to someone....

Personally I think the thread should remain open so all can see the true colors of this salesman.....wishing you better days ahead...

                    The truth???

                    Hi John and Mary,

Before we get started I’d like to explain how we do our business…We invite semi qualified people by mail or other means offering a gift or gratuity to attend a presentation lasting 90 minutes or more to explain a “Deal” that you won’t refuse.
Most people I talk to come for the gift and when they do we refer to you as mooches, domestic scavengers or gift hounds trying to get something for nothing or a free lunch.
We also call you ups which has been a more enduring way of referring to you which comes not from the automobile industry that gave us terms as be backs and the three “D’s” but from baseball (which preceded cars) for when the batting rotation came to you they called out “Batter Up” and you had to get up from your kneeling or sitting position.
At no time do I want you to feel like a guest because I am in control here.
When you do elect to get involved with our program I want you to know that exchanging is not easy, and in no way will I return your phone calls because as soon as the right of rescission is over and I’m paid I’m done with you, unless you send me referrals.
Your maintenance fees will increase regularly and there will be special major assessments in the future.
You will find that your unit may rent out for less then you pay annually because of mismanaged HOAs, unscrupulous exchange companies and management company shenanigans.
And if you have questions today they will be glossed over and not be provided to you in writing.
When you are rushed through the paperwork I will paraphrase what is in writing but the bottom line is after the rescission period ends the company retains all the rights and you have virtually none.
This is going to be fun, come this way…

Salespersons need remember...If you don't sell, a terrible thing will happen...

Was it the Sunset Group, World, whatever they go by? I want to know that if you use it is it at least worth it? Or when it comes time to use it you get a whole lot of run out and nothing is ever done correctly, etc. As long as it gets used, I want to know if all is good?

Depends. At one time owners of floating weeks could not get a reservation unless they took the AI option. Rumor had it that Sunset sold more weeks than they actually had-and were still selling years later.

                          sunset group/sunset world

speaking from personal experience we wouldn´t go anywhere near this company! by their own admission in an email to us,

¨They do not honor their verbal promises¨

My advice to you is Go with a recommended company who will fulfill what they say to you!

A friend of my daughters has a brother in law (American) who sells Timeshares in Mexico. The only thing I found out is that he makes LOTS of money. I forgot the name of the resort. She also said he is a shady character. SAD...

The ts salesforce in Mexico looks to be more USA and Canadian than it used to be. We attended 4 presentations this year. One of the presentaions was a job offer. The sales manager then told me 80% of the sales staff were not Mexican. Most of the USA and Canadian sales staff were involved with real estate sales and other sales in the USA. The amount these guys earn was a 10% sales commision. It looked like 220K - 280K per year earnings with only a 16% flat tax was attainable.

This is all true, BUT, you have to live with the fact that you have to lie to people every single day. My husband wanted to try this right after he retired since we love our timeshare vacations. He could tell them about our wonderful vacations, but not lie about the rentals and potential income, so he did not sell - if you do not sell, you do not get paid, and they will not keep you around. They moved him to the end of the line where they try to sell you a trial program fairly cheap. He couldn't lie about this either and quit. We just call it his excellent adventure in Mexico.
