  • Grand Mayan Get the Boot?

Does anyone know has RCI and the Grand Mayan got it together yet or are they still ripping off exchangers? We really want to trade into the Grand Mayan in Nuevo but don't want to get moved to the Mayan Palace or elsewhere. We feel our Cabo week is worth the Grand Mayan and want it but dont want to settle for less at the last minute.

It's a crap shoot - My friend and I both traded into GM NV 2BR units last Presidents Week....I waited with baited breath and neither of us was bumped - other members of this board WERE bumped...
One possible solution is to deposit your week with SFX - to our knowlwedge (on TS4Ms) and from what the rep Mark@SFX states - they have not had any members 'baited and switched' into lesser accomodations.

Thanks for the info Pat. I dont know if SFX will take my Mexico (CABO) Week but I guess the point is mute anyway as I have deposited this years week with RCI already and I dont want to pay next Octobers fees yet to the resort. The resort will not confirm the deposit until I pay the fees. I have two weeks in the bank with RCI and I think they will pull the Grand Mayan. But I do want the week before Christmas, at least I am trying for it. My wife and kid want the warm pools and the water park. , so the mayan Nuevo is not the same.

      Thanks
      Lou

We were just at the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta the last 2 weeks of April on an exchange through SFX. No problem at all. In fact we asked for an ocean view and they gave us a great unit on the top floor facing the ocean. They were completely full the week that we arrived and the following week. I believe that they may favor SFX exchangers. I have no evidence of that other than our personal experience and SFX does have a connection with the Mayan Palace/Grand Mayan resorts.

Did you request the ocean view prior to arrival, or during check in? Thanks

              John,
LTNS. Hope you're doing well. You forgot to mention one thing in your sentence below. You requested it in Spanish at check in. ¿Es Verdad?

John, When I checked in to the Grand Mayan as an RCI exchanger, the RCI exchangers went to the right for checkin and the owners went to the left. Where do the SFX exchangers register? I had the impression that only the reception staff to the left had access to the oceanview rooms. Needless to say, we did not get one. Loved the place anyway and are returning next year, thanks to SFX.

Absolutely. We speak Spanish only while in Mexico. We went to the right which was the first person available. Her name is Sandra and is from Mexico City. She was a great help during our stay. We got to know several of the employees and managers while we were there.

We are very well thank you and enjoying ourselves in the Bay area. It looks like we will be here for quite awhile. I hope that you and Jerry are both well.

Thanks everyone for the advice, we ended up booking a week with SFX and aren't worried about the trade as we would have been with RCI. They sure were service oriented.
