Mayan resorts - no more 1 in 5 in RCI?

I was just told by an RCI rep that Mayan resorts suspended the 1 in 5 rule for 2011 as of two weeks ago. It still shows up on the website in the fine print, though. Does anyone have more info?

I agree, Frank - tourism is wayyyyy down. Was in Riviera Maya last month and while I did not expect it to be busy - it was VERY slow.

ALL resorts EXCEPT CABO have suspended the 1 in 5 rule for ALL of 2011.

We didn't discuss the reason why

Thanks for double checking. I guess Cabo has higher occupancy rates than the other locations.

HTSE has lots of Mayan Palace and some Grand Mayan weeks for rent cheap on their new rental site. Many were only $235 total for the week. That's cheaper than trading for one if you can find when/where you want to go.
