  • Possible bogus emails from the Ironwood Group..

I just received notice from Royal Resorts out of Mexico that their owners have been reporting getting bogus emails about the Royal Haciendas Resort in Rivera Maya. The company named on the email is the Ironwood Group which is allegedly stating they are affiliated with the resort developer. The legal department for Royal Resorts is investigating the issue, and is advising all owners to please disregard such bogus emails and to please not reply or provide any personal or private information to the sender. Royal Resorts has no knowledge of this company nor is it affiliated with them in any way.

    ironwood group experience

Although I am not an owner at Royal Resorts, I used to own a week at Mayan Palace (which was a total scam) and used Ironwood Group to take over the deed. Cost me a few hundred bucks, but it was nominal compared to the maintenance fees we had to pay at Mayan (and we never even used it).

Trust me, these guys are the real thing...the agent 3way called my resort (with a number I didnt even have) to make them cancel a late fee charge that was wrong (charged before it was even mailed..nice) so the transfer would go through LOL.... they seemed quite passionate about helping us (even after we paid them), and the owner is in all of their commercials. I don't see how they could be affiliated with any resort as they were very "anti-timeshare" when they helped me.

Excuse my cynicism, but we have no reason to trust you. We don't know you but we have had many experiences with new posters acting as shills to try to make unethical or scam companies seem legitimate. Unless the Royal Resorts post here that their warning was untrue, the obvious conclusion is that you are a shill for the company and your post has no relevance to the truth.

        Tony,

I am new to this forum. I am certainly not a "Shill" for the company I used, nor will I put up with being disrespected in a public chat. As a 62 year old executive assistant for a non-profit that took five minutes out of my busy day to offer a relevant post, I have just been deeply offended by you. Your "requirement" that Royal Resorts must post a reply of some sort is suspicious. Is this a string to promote Royal Resorts? I don't promote ANY company in the timeshare world, including the one I mentioned. If I offended you, Tony, by sharing my experience then I am sorry. Manners go a long way these days, not calling someone a "Shill" in public goes even further. Hope we can be friends, EM

Welcome to the Forums! Skepticism and thick skin are a requirement for forum moderators. I'm bored this morning so I'll play along. Perhaps it will at least help explain how these posts evolve to any newbies who find this thread!

Unfortunately, there is one fact about these open forums that seems to be true 100% of the time..

When a first time poster registers to an online timeshare forum for what appears to be the sole purpose of defending a company reported to be involved in some time of scam- in the past that person has ALWAYS turned out to be a shill!

No offense or personal slight intended, it's sadly just a fact of this virtual life!

Human nature is such that individuals simply don't take the time to search for scam related posts about a company that they have only a passing interest in- but they do often search for them if they have also been scammed or are scared that the "offer" they received is not legitimate.

Because of this, scammers often have shills register for the single purpose of trying to make the scam appear legitimate. They will then express anger and disbelief when their positive message is not received with open arms.. A few days later, more brand new shills will also register to again come to the defense of both the scam company as well as the original shill.

It is amazing how absolutely routine the process has become.

If you are the sole exception to this rule, congrats! Spend time here and share your thoughts on a wide range of topics. Get to know the regulars, and interact with us on a consistent basis. Soon- you to will have shills calling you out!

The Royal Resorts is a quality timeshare developer and management group. I have owned several weeks at their resorts and trust them more than any other developer. If they warn about a scam, they know what they are talking about and can be readily believed more than a first time poster with a contradictory post.

              hazy afternoon

Thank you for your welcome lol (feels a bit more like a hazing but I'll chalk it up to character building).

Rikis-playpen: No offense taken, thanks for the advise
Tony/Rikis: Thanks for the info on Royal Resorts, since we dumped our Mayan Palace we don't visit Mexico. Can you recommend any specifics (I found their website) as far as their Caribbean destinations ? I see they are independently owned.....what exactly does that mean?
