  • Great Deal from Living Social for MP/GM

Living Social which is similar to Groupon has a promo for all MP's and GM's. For the next week, they're offering a master room (hotel room) for 7 nights for $379 with $200 resort credit (=$179), or 4 nights for $249 with $100 resort credit (=$149). 4 or 7 Nights in Mexico - LivingSocial One and two bedroom units are available for small upgrade fees. With the resort credit that's cheaper than the exchange fee and you don't have to pay any m/f's.

Be sure to read all the fine print for the dates available and details.

Living Social has a terrible return policy, you only have 30 days to return it. So if you wait 31 days and then have difficulty finding a reservation date that suits your needs, you are SOL. I know several of my friends that bought one for a very nice B&B near where I live and found out they only had mid-week days available and it was too late to return the voucher. So if you buy it, you need to book your date fast and not wait until later.

FYI, Living Social regular vouchers recently changed their return policy where you only get 5 days to return or if the vendor goes out of business or refuses to honor to the voucher. It used to be you had 5 years to return it for credit.

That depends on your preferences. We have stayed 2 weeks at the Grand Mayan - Nuevo Vallarta and 8 weeks at the Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya. The Grand Mayans have more deluxe accommodations and more amenities like their own pools etc. Mayan Palace guests cannot use the Grand Mayan pools, lazy river etc. whereas GM guests can use the MP facilities. That makes a lot more difference at Nuevo Vallarta than Riviera Maya. We far prefer the Mayan pools at the Riviera Maya to the Grand Mayan pools

We far prefer the Riviera Maya resort. That is mainly because of the cultural attractions in the area. The resorts are quite different and both are great. Nuevo Vallarta is more compact with ocean front views available if you can get them. We stayed in the upper floor of the middle GM building with ocean view. It was awesome and I must have taken 500 pictures from our balcony. The GM - Riviera Maya is very spread out and the buildings are just 3 stories with no real ocean views. We found it more relaxing at the GM - Riviera Maya because it is spread out. The beach at Nuevo Vallarta is far better.

You can't really go wrong with either one. As I said, it depends what you are looking for. We enjoy all the attractions at the Riviera Maya like Xcaret etc. so that is our main reason for preferring it even though it is a much longer flight to get there for us.
