For everyone who has been-- Can you tell me what kind of $$ I will be spending for Meals and drinks, excursions etc. Limited budget has me wondering if I can afford this resort?

Since you have a kitchen, you can save money by preparing your meals at your condo. There is public transportation so you can go away from the resort too and that's very reasonable. There is so much to do in the resort, that you won't be bored. I am sure it is on the beach too.
I don't know if there is a little market in the resort or not but it would be cheaper to go to a local grocery store. Many people go to one of the big American stores and shop for several days. This is for the Mayan Palace at the marina in Puerto Vallarta or in Nuevo Vallarta. I know nothing about the other ones but you will get more replies.

There are some very nice restaurants at the NV resort. If you plan on cooking in the room , You will have to travel by cab to get the food. The shows at the NV are better than the others I have seen. The food was better also. You will sign for every thing by the pool. It will add up. On the Avg I have dropped a grand for a week for 3 people.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

thanks but still looking for more!
This is for Nuevo Vallarta--
What is the average cost for Dinner at a nice restaurant?
How about Drinks (whats a vacation with out them?)
Do the shows have admission prices?
What about kayaking, boogie boards, etc?
Frank- when you said you dropped $1000 -- that would be in line with what we were thinking-- I assume you ate and drank well? did you sightsee? etc?

Beer is cheaper at the Sea Garden or various groceries. When we were there last year, we would take the bus in to town or a taxi to Bucerias. Food & drinks are significantly less expensive at the beachfront restaurants in Bucerias. We generally take a collapsible cooler and take beer down to the beach in it. We only order drinks at happy hours. We found room service the best deal - we could order one entree and guacamole with fresh salsa and extra chips and share in our room for under $20 with the tip included.
You can take a bus to town and taxi home one day to stock up. Wal-mart & Sam's share the same parking lot.Phyllis

I agree that the restaurants at the Grand Mayan - Nuevo Vallarta were better than those at the Riviera Maya though the breakfast buffet at the Riviera Maya was much better. I believe that the Mexican Fiesta at the Mayan Palace - Riviera Maya was much better than at the Mayan Palace - Nuevo Vallarta.
The Grand Mayan - Nuevo Vallarta has meal ticket packets which save a lot of money especially for the dinners. We saved over 50% on our dinners at the El Mondo ( our favorite restaurant ) in the Grand Mayan -Nuevo Vallarta.John
