  • Nuevo Vallarta then Acapulco!!

    Hi,

We just booked the Grand Mayan NV followed by a week at the Grand Mayan Acapulco for the first 2 weeks in June 2008. Similar to John, SFX called me within hours of my request posting I love them!!

I have never been to a Grand Mayan, and I have never been to either area of Mexico.

Please let me know what you think of each resort and the surrounding areas of each!!

    Thanks

I have been to both. NV is much newer and I enjoyed the pool there a little more. Acapulco has the worlds longest pool but is very narrow. I liked the NV pool more.

The beach is better in Acapulco

Here is two pictures of the beach in Acapulco.

        Hello Amanda,

I stayed at the NV Mayan Palace and the one located in Rivera Mayan. I love their resorts and I know you will love it as well. They have a on site disco, internet, good food, and a small (very small) arcade for the kids.

I want to go to the Acapulco resort because the pictures look wonderful.

I haven't been to the one in Acapulco yet. We stayed 2 consecutive weeks at the Grand Mayan - Nuevo Vallarta and also have stayed at the one in Riviera Maya. We have the last 2 weeks in April 2008 booked at the Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya.

We prefer the Nuevo Vallarta resort but prefer the Riviera Maya location as it has many more cultural attractions. In any event you will love the resort and the beach is great at Nuevo Vallarta. Try to get an ocean view unit on an upper floor. You should be able to as June should not be too busy. That is the start of the Mexican tourist season so there should be a lot of Mexicans staying at the resort if it is late June. We had an ocean view unit on the top floor of the middle building and we were there when the resort was packed. I have some awesome pictures that I took from my balcony.

Now if somebody would give me instructions on how to post photos, I would be glad to do so.
              John

I hate to say this but after reading this post I tried to book the Mayan Palace for next year. They found me a 2bd room at the Grand Mayan in NV and I was excited. As she started to read the statement - 2 tennis courts, and you cant come to the Mayan Palace but once every 5 years. I am so heartbroken because I was just there last year and now I have to wait 4 more years before I can return.

Was RCI wrong. Is it 5 years at one resort or 5 years at any Mayan Palace resort?

                  Please help me.

Yes they did change it to a 1 and 5. Now this is how you get around it. First and the easy way is if you have a good top trader exchange it with SFX. They get as many Grand Mayan units than Rci with out any restrictions. You can also hope that Rci will wave the 1 and 5 for 30 days like they did last year.

The 1 in 5 rule only applies if exchanging through RCI. You can exchange through San Francisco Exchange which does not have any restrictions.
