I am taking the family to the Grand Maya Riviera Maya over Spring Break 2008. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), due to the use of frequent flyer miles for our flights, I am arriving about 3 hours ahead of my wife and kids. I plan to get a rental car and wonder how long it takes to drive from the Cancun airport to the GM. Given all the luggage I suspect we will take, I may want to make a run to the GM to drop off the first load and then head back to pick up the family. Thanks.

it should be under 45 minutes from the airport to the GM RM as the directions on this site Driving directions:Riviera Maya destinations,Caribbean Mexico say it is 45 minutes from the airport to Play Del Carmen which is 15 minutes from the resort....

Originally posted by timI currently have a car reservation with Caribbean Rent A Car (the site is -- cancunrentacar.com). I think I will go with them as they have fully inclusive rates (all insurance included with zero deductible) and a midsize car for a week is reasonable at $312 USD.
