  • Nuevo Vallarta GM & MP Questions

We are arriving in Puerto Vallarta on Sat. 10/6 for two weeks. Can some of you that have been there offer some input?
    1. I read that at the airport, you can save $5-10 by crossing the overpass to get a cab rather than at the arrival door. About how far is the walk, and is the saving realistic?
    2. Do they have wireless INTERNET available, or do they only have their own INTERNET café?
    3. What is the approximate cab fare into PV for sightseeing, dinner, etc?
    4. Any recommendations on good quality restaurants with a nice view in PV? We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary on 10/14, so want something nice, but not stuffy or pretentious. (Over priced)

Are you going to the MP or the GM?

If it is the GM , email me , I have some other info .

The cab fair to the MP/GM is about $20 from the airport.

If you schlep your luggage over the highway and catch a PV cab it will be about $15, not worth the hassle for us.

They MP has an internet cafe @ 70 pesos per hour.

The GM has wireless outside the spa, the signs say it is $35 per week, but unless things have changed, they weren't enforcing this policy.

To come back into town the cab is $14, and about the same for the return trip.

There are many posts about places to eat.

One of our favorites is Bruce's back alley bistro in old town.
Only don't try to take a cab there, as in many foreign places, Bruce is asked to pay the Cab company for every fare that they deliver to his establishment. And he won't, so when we tried they dropped us off at the Bistro, then called Bruce and told him he lost another one.

At the MP the Tumtah restaurant has a great setting. It is off the south end of the pool complex, great food, ocean front, in fact you can request to be seated and served on the sand, right on the beach.

We won't be there for another 30 days

Are you staying in the Grand Mayan in PV or NV? There is a restaurant that is above PV. That is where you want to go for your 40th. The view is something you will not forget.

        Greg & Frank,
Thanks for the input. We will be at the GM Nuevo Vallarta 10/6, and then move to the MP NV on 10/13.

Frank, what is the name of the restaurant "above PV?"

I do not recall the name but just ask the cab driver or the MP staff. You may not want to leave the MP but when you do, try to find a cab driver that will give you a tour. We did that and he took us all around plus he took us to one of his familys restaurants where we got one of the best meals over looking the cliffs and water. YOu could never find it because it is on a dirt road but I do remember there being condos next door and it was about 30 min away in another town. Also buy your grocerys what ever they may be a way from the MP. There prices are insane,
