Here is a copy of map of Grand Mayan RM that I scanned in showing where the various buildings, pools and restaurants are located.


It is located in my album on the photo server. Sorry that it is a little wavy but was scanning from a small booklet that I had.

Yes, it is Huge!!
But the whole front part is the golf course with some of the Mayan Palace buildings and some of the Grand Mayan Buildings on each side of the golf course.

Hi Do you have a way to send me the photo image of this through email. We are going to the GM at the end of January. Should we rent a car from Cancun airport to get around the area or even to drive from place to place on the resort itself. I hear there is no beach there, can you recommend a beach close by?-----Thanks Marylyn

I sent a copy of the GM map to your email.
About renting a car, it's kind of a personal call. We did not rent one and were able to get around fine using public transportation (ie buses), but you had to go to front gate of resort and cross highway to catch ones going to Playa de Carmen and points south of resort, for cancun or north you catch it on same side as resort is on. Some folks don't like doing that and would rather have a car for convience. As far as getting around the resort itself a car won't do you much good as there are only parking lots out by the timeshare buildings and not near the pools or restaurants.
As far as the beach is concerned, there is a beach there but it is not swimmable, too many rocks and coral. You can go in the water if you walk down the beach from the resort about 20 minutes or so.
We took bus and went to the beaches in Playa del Carmen which were very nice. There are also nice beaches in Cancun.
