  • Grand Mayan trip photos

Here is a link to a few photos I posted on Webshots of our trip to Grand Mayan RM in November. I just picked a few quickly from my wife's and mine. Sorry for just having a few and not having done any cropping or other processing on them yet but wanted to get them posted before Paul (Biskits) left for his trip as I had said I would try to get some posted.

Frank, I'll take a look thru our photos, but I'm not sure I have many good ones of the areas around the pools if that is what you mean.
Probably would have as the pools are beautiful but we didn't spend much time in them because they were very cold (not heated). That was one of my few complaints about GM/Mayan Palace. Not sure why they don't heat up naturally as the ocean water was very nice, but, since they don't I think the Mayan Palace folks should heat them. They play up their pools so much.
Anyway it's still a pretty nice place. I will look for some decient photos and upload them if I have any others. There are a couple of the pools up there now but they don't show too much.

I uploaded a couple more of the pools but I didn't have too many in my photos. When I get a chance to go thru all my wife's photos I may come up with a few more. She usually takes about 3 times the photos I do on any givo en trip but it normally takes me a little longer to download all hers to the computer and process any that I want to post etc, as I do most of the downloading and post processing etc.
When we went to Italy I took about 1200 photos and my wife took 4000. I took about 500 or so in Mexico so she probably has at least 1500.
Digital cameras are great, take 1000, have 100 keepers!!!

          Thanks for the pictures Ken....

Do you have any of the 'second' bedroom and bath? I actually really liked the lock-off unit in GM NV - with the 'look-thru' bathtub between the bedroom and bath,
It was not the same in GM ACA.

I am trying to decide if DH and I should take the lock-off because of the privacy factor (we can close the door and have the bed/bath to ourselves)
as oppossed to taking the master bedroom but then having to 'share' the bathroom with our friends DDs in the living room.

            Pat,
We only had the one BR so no pics of the 2nd BR and bath. The one bedroom had the tub in the bedroom (no look thru) and the bathroom with shower is separate and is accessable thru both the bedroom and living room. The only thing that I thought was strange was that the tub in the one bedroom is not a jacuzzi, it's big but just a soaking tub. They put a jacuzzi tub in the 2nd bedroom lockoff.

Although I am NOT a mexico fan your pictures make me thing about it ... particularly the ruins.

Those pools must have been frigid as I don't see a single person in them in any of your photos.

                Thanks for sharing Ken.

Lawren, yes the pools were quite cool. I find it odd that they have these great pools that cover acres but they basically aren't usuable for many people during several months, and those months are the ones that we northerners want to go there. You are right there wasn't many folks in them other than a few kids and a few times my wife and I.

We were there 2 years ago in Feb for 2 weeks and I was only in the pool once and it was soo cold. We sat and watched all the people at the swim up bar sitting there for hours and I thought if I was only brave enough to get there maybe a couple of drinks would warm me up! I never did get up the courage. It's really too bad as the pools are beautiful.

                        Heated when we were there

We just returned from the Grand Mayan. We were there from Jan. 13-20. 2008.

The pools were definitely heated and VERY nice. Almost bathtub warm. Our 4 and 2 year old girls had so much fun in the pools. Lots of people in the pools.

                          Great pictures!!!!

                          Hi Ken
Great pictures!!!! I have only been home a week and I cant wait to to go back!!!! Big difference between the GM and MP units. Also loved your pictues of Mazatlan downtown and market. DW and I have vacationed in Mazatlan 3 or 4 times but doubt that we will be going back there again since finding Playa del Carmen and surrounding area. Next trip we want to rent up in Tulum and over on Isla Mojeres. Hard to find any prettier beachs in the world....

Lawren- As a matter of info, pool at GM/MP was very comfortable and crowded last week. You should have no problem when you visit over next couple of months.

I havent had time to even review my pics yet let alone download them.
Unfortuately work keeps getting in the way

                          Best wishes,
                          Paul
