Advice on Exchange into Royal Resorts

Hi,

I'm new here and was hoping you experienced exchangers could offer some advise on a pending exchange request. I deposited President's Week 2008 Vail Evergreen building (2BR) in February 2007 requesting Royal Sands, Royal Caribbean or Royal Islander for the week before Easter 2009, April 4 - 11.

I thought this week had good trading power and I thought I would be in good shape get confirmed in April 2008, but I read on the forum that Royal Resorts can deposit two years in advance, so I'm wondering if the inventory has already gone and I should forget about exchanging in.

I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!!!

Since it's not a holiday week, I think you have a very good chance of getting your exchange. Just because the weeks CAN be deposited two years in advance, doesn't mean they actually do, especially if MFs are due before depositing (perhaps a Royals owner can tell us when MFs are due). II is different from RCI with respect to advance planning, there is a lot more available one year out than two, and II doesn't really push depositing that far in advance the way RCI does. In the past few years I've been looking, most Royals sightings are within a year, and many of our members get exchanges there. You deposited a very strong week, and made your request well in advance, for properties with A LOT of inventory, I think you'll be ok.

I'm not sure if the week I am requesting is considered holiday or not. The units are occupied Saturday to Saturday, and we are departing the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Do you think that would make any difference? Thanks again.

The popularity of your dates will largely depend on the holiday/school schedules for Easter/Passover that year. Still, your deposit is very strong, the only thing that would be ahead of you in any significant numbers would be "in house" exchanges through Royal, made by other Royal owners into the week you want. That isn't a week I've ever requested or studied closely, hopefully someone who looks for that timeframe more will be able to help.

Hi and welcome to TS4Ms.

The week you deposited is a strong one in terms of trading power with II - and requesting early is key with the Royal Resorts - I have traded 4 times into the Royals - my last trade was for Presidents Week 2007. Many Royal owners deposit 2 years ahead, but I have friends that got their trades at the 9 and 10 month before check-in date.

I requested the trade in February 2005 and was confirmed in May 2005 for February 2007.

You still have more then 14 months until check-in which gives you a good lead time.

The bad news - Holy Week in Mexico is a VERY big vacation week for the Mexican people - and many go to the Royal Resorts.
On the other hand, since Easter is a 'floating' holiday week - there still could be a fair number of deposits from people who don't celebrate that holiday or care to be in Mexico that week.
I think you still have a good shot at the exchange and would 'hang in there' until you are up to the 9 month mark...

This is a popular high demand week, but not the highest. Since you are requesting over one year in advance, you should have a good chance of getting the week. I've exchanged into that week in the past with no great problem or wait time and perhaps with a less powerful trader. Three choices of resorts make it even more likely.

Having searched the II inventory online, there are clearly weeks that have been deposited 2 years out by the Royal Resorts. I'm getting really frustrated about depositing a prime Vail ski week and getting NOTHING in return.

I don't have much in the way of advice-but I can relate my experience.

I have 2 exchanges to The Royal Sands for the first week of June 08. One matched in 4/07 and the other in 9/07....so 13 mos out and 8 mos out.
Of course, I was not asking for Spring or a near Holiday week, but....and you are just going to hate me for this part......I used Worldmark Credits, request first and both matched literally over night on a Sunday night/Monday morning. I know another WM owner who is going in May and he matched 3 (same) weeks at The Royal Mayan and is hosting a big family reunion.

Marriott really should trump Worldmark in trading-it usually does....maybe it's the time of year I am requesting that helps?

I say stay the course....I am not very patient either, I had the same request in with another exchange company for the second week and waited 4 months and nothing. I decided to go back to what I knew (II) and as I said it matched over night. It's hard to wait but I think you stand a good chance.
