  • Grand MayanNuevo help please

Afraid that I've left this a bit late. We are going to GM/NV this weekend. Although I contacted the concierge regarding transportation and booking tee times, the answer I received was not particularly helpful.
Does anyone have a suggestion of a van service that they would recommend for airport pickup and possible day trips?
Is there a discount for golf if staying at the resort? If so, how do you make the bookings?
    Many thanks!

If I recall correctly , It was not to costly to book a cab from the airport. Can't help with golf but if you do take a cab and you like him be sure to grab his # and work out a tour with him.

We went last year and I looked into van services for transportation from the airport to GM NV for my family of 5. Many had minimum fees or hours so I just used a cab from the airport. They have very large "cabs" which are big vans that easily held my family and the cost was $50 USD.

Thanks Frank. Did you book the cab through the Grand Mayan or from another website?

Thanks Tim. Did you just march through the timeshare sharks until you got outside to the cabs?

Walk past all the sharks and all the signs--beware some will say the name of your resort--ignore them. At the end and slightly to the right is a booth to book your taxi at a fixed price.

No I booked it at the airport but as Catwgirl said, Beware there are a few that will try any thing to get you in and charge you more.

Thanks! Thats exactly what I needed to know. I remember being bombarded by the timeshare sharks and I hate having to walk through them with a lost look on my face!

Yes, ignore the sharks and head for the taxi booth right by the door. They charge by zone from the airport and to go to the GM NV it was 450 pesos. However, they see that you are American so they say $45 USD. I said I would pay in pesos so it was 450 pesos, which is slightly better than $45 USD. I gave the driver a 50 pesos tip for helping with all the bags. Have fun.

Is there cheaper way to go to Grand Mayan Nuevo? We only have 2 people. Is there shuttle?

Leave the airport (don't make eye contact with the t/s sharks and bus drivers) and walk over the pedestrian bridge and flag a cab there. That way you avoid the extra taxes the cabbies have to charge you. It should be about $10-$12 to NV resorts. They will negotiate a little. Confirm price before you get in!!!

Go to their website and book online. It's all there. The Grand Mayan - Special Category Hotels in the Best Beaches of Mexico - Mayan Resorts
Scoeverett (the guy who is going on his honeymoon this w/e) asked the very same questions and I sent him to the GM's website. Good luck !

If you take the t/s presentation through the GM resort (they'll offer it to you when you get your wristband at checkin) you'll get golf for $50 per round. Plus you'll get a $100 credit to your room bill (not good on golf) plus you'll get two free City Tours, which was very nice. The gal said they would MATCH any written offer you bring them from any t/s shark. So I would negotiate with the GM folks & maybe you can get more.

They have closed 6 or 7 holes on the golf course for future buildings so you may get bored playing the same 11/12 holes. I played it twice and it's in good condition. They also force you to use a caddy and the cost is $15/cart plus tip.

                              Thanks everyone !
I did go through the website originally and the transportation link is to the concierge. I am sure the service will be fine, I just wondered if there might be a cheaper/superior service alternative.
At this point anywhere that isn't -40 will be very appealing!
