  • 1 Bedroom Suite at Grand Mayan Riviera

    Hey

The occupancy for this suite is max 5 people, but I read there's only a king size bed and 2 sofa beds in the living room. I was wondering if an adult can sleep on the sofa in the bedroom? Also are the sofas fixed in place, or can they be moved around?

    Thanks!

    Jenny,

Most of the Grand Mayans have the same layout and one bedroom sofas I've stayed at were not suitable for a larger size adult.

You can fit way more than 5 much more if you have kids.

There is a king bed plus a Sofa bed that can sleep 2 more in the same bedroom. That can be 5 right there if you have a small child sleeping with you in the king bed.
Then you have 2 more sofa beds that can sleep 4 in the living room. If needed you can fit 9 in the room. Problem is the resort will not let you put 9 in there. You can get away with 6 if one is a child and they should not question it. Also if you only have the main 1 bedroom there is only 1 bath room. If everyone needs to Shower it is not good when you want to get out.

              Jenny, Frank is correct.
There are 2 sofas in the living room that are actually like a trundle bed - 2 twin size mattresses roll out from under each 'sofa' - so actually can sleep 4 - then a king size bed in the bedroom PLUS another sofa....

It is a sleep 5 but could really sleep 7! The picture below only shows one sofa in the living room but there are actually TWO

              Mayan Floor Plans

              1 Bedroom Suite Floor Plan
The one bedroom suite (Mayan resorts calls this unit a Grand Suite). It is rated for up to 4 adults and 2 children (under age 12). It includes the same central room as a two bedroom with living/dining/kitchen area and one separate bedroom with living/dining/kitchen area and one separate bedroom with bathroom. It also has the cooling pool on the balcony. Approximate area is 800 square feet.

(There is a king size bed in the bedrrom, plus two living room couches with pull our for four singles.)

Pat you can get 9 if you have a small child in the king bed, Now if you get the lock out part you can add 2 more on the sofa bed and another 3 in the king making it 14 total for a real party.

Wow, I can't wait to got there this coming Xmas! We have a 2 bedroom unit and our friends who have only 1 child also have a 2 bedroom unit. They are going to have to find some friends to bring with them to share their unit that can sleep 14.

I have a trade to this resort via RCI; my confirmation says:
                      Unit Type: 1 Bedroom
                      Max Occ / Privacy 5/4
                      Kitchen Partial
Would that be this type of unit, or the smaller side of the lock-off? Also, what is in the partial kitchen?

Judy, you will get the unit I posted a picture of above - that is the one bedroom.
The kitchens are intended for show, not cooking
There is a cooktop with 4 burners, a small refrigerator with freezer and a microwave. High end appliances and granite.

Are you sure the sofa in the bedroom is a sleeper? I'm pretty sure the one in our unit was just a sofa.

Grand Mayan units have the Sofa bed that rolls out from underneath which gives you two small beds.

It is really enjoyable to have that much space for a small amount of people. You will feel like royalty. Our four year old loved to watch cartoons in Spanish form the huge tub in the master bedroom. Every evening I looked so forward to a relaxing soak so it was so nice to have two bathrooms, as there is no privacy with the tub in the bedroom- at least not in this family!!
