    Wyndham Grand Mayans

I happened to get confirmed at the GM in Acapulco through SFX and I googled the property and saw the same thing. Apparently this was announced in May 2007(Grupo Mayan Allies with Wyndham Hotel Group)

Hope the properties don't get changed for the worse!!!

This is the Wyndham Hotel Group involved with Grand Mayan, not the timeshare companies.

Curious about your comment about Wyndham, all of my experiences at their hotels and timeshares have been very pleasant with a staff that seeks to make your stay as exceptional. Have you had a different experience?

I had seen that also, there are ads in the RCI magazine - it would be GREAT if they decided they wanted to 'get together' TS wise.

YOU sure it is just the Hotel part and not the timeshare end as well?

Perhaps this promotion goes together with the offer of no annual fee if you don't use for the Mayan owners this year. Nice way to get a rental pool started and certainly the way RCI wants timesharing to go.

To the best of my understanding

The Wyndham Hotel Group is now a marketing arm for rentals of the Grupo Mayan resorts, i.e. the Grand Mayan, The Mayan Palace, and possibly the Sea Garden. These resorts are all timeshare, but they operate like hotels with daily maid service, etc, so Frank, yes it is the timeshares and the hotels.

The Grupo Mayan's affiliation with RCI's rental division and their elite trade company, all dovetail into more rentals at higher prices for additional income for Wyndham and new prospects for Grupo Mayan to sell .

I hope that Wydhham never gets involved with the management, since customer service and guest relations are great with Grupo Mayan resorts. Unlike some of the others

              jmho,

When we went to a presentation in Nuevo Vallarta it was in the making and I posted an article about it OY. From what I understood is that you don't have to pay maintenance fees if you don't use your week. You do if you exchange or rent it out yourself.

The Mayan Resorts will rent it out through Wyndham. Guess who is making big profits here or it may be a way to get new prospects there with promotional packages. They didn't say.

Sooner or later the developers can no long market their timeshares the way they do it today because people are wising up and go on the internet to find out what they got themselves into and rescind when they see the re-sale prices. I believe the present marketing game is on it's way out. What do you think?

What happened to the RCI TV infomercials where they featured a certain resort and then offered promotional packages. I did see it once on TV but never again. They even advertised on their web site where they were playing. This renting deal must have replaced the infomercials. JMHO.

PS. Sorry, I didn't read the post above and he is posting practically the same thing as I did.

                  Wyndam - Grand Mayan Connection

We recently stayed at the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya via an RCI exchange. The resort is fantastic. During the course of a high pressure sales pitch we were advised that Wyndam had just purchased the Grupo Maya company which owns both Grand Mayan and Mayan Palace resorts.

Sound like Wyndam and Marriott are going head to head in the t/s and hotel industry ?

                      Base on Mary's Link

Grupo Mayan has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Wyndham Worldwide’s RCI Global Vacation Network, which will continue to handle services for the group’s timeshare properties.
RCI is handling the service already, the alliance has no impact.

Does not like Wyndham purchase anything. More likely, is one hospitality group join another hospitality's group umbrella's.

Not sure how Wyndham operates it hotel groups. But IMHO, it probably like when Cadent originally just purchased the name right of Wyndham. Than each sub investment groups under old Wyndham that actually own the hotels will determine if they want to continue use the name Wyndham, and if they do, they pay Cadent name right and some sevice fee so they ad together, makes reservation effort together etc ... More likely, in within the contract period, they will follow what Wyndham's requirements.

What would be GREAT is if some Mayan inventory became available for Wyndham points (and vice versa). Not holding my breath on this though.

Were the ts weasles lips moving?

I am sure that they told you this, but 99% of what is said in a presentation anywhere is just smoke, designed to get you to part with your money.

It will be a very sad day if the morons at Wyndham ever get their meathooks on the Grupo Mayan.

                          fwiw,

A friend just returned from Grand Mayan NV. She said there were Wyndham signs all over. Not sure what that means.
