You almost always get the unit that is on the confirmation as the owners of the unit have given it to RCI or II. The only time I am aware that you do not is if someone is staying for 2 weeks and the resort switches you to another unit. Nearly all the villas at the Royal Mayan are excellent there are only a few with a lagoon view (which you don't want) and if you were given one of those you couls ask to be moved!

How exactly does laundry work at the Mayan?

Like any laundry, except there is an attendant that you pay (by room card).

So, on the laundry, they have washers & dryers and there is an attendant that does it for you, or just is there to watch things? I am a little unclear on how it is to work? I must be a little slow on this subject.

The attendant is really there just to keep an eye on things, and they will keep an eye on things and sometimes move the wash to the dryer and even fold the dried clothes. Should you get the extra help, a tip is suggested.
