  • Mayan Palace Riviera Maya Building request

    I just posted this on TUG but figured any and all help would be appreciated since some members here don't go online to TUG.

    My daughter just exchanged into the Mayan Palace Riviera Maya and got a 2BR 2 bath unit based on my recommendation. She was looking to go to a warm destination in January and trying to get FF seats and after checking back and forth she reluctantly booked this vacation, Here is the problem she has two little kids one a four year old and an infant and didn't want to book this because she read reviews on expedia and trip advisor that it will take her 1/2 just to get from her building to the pool and main area of the resort. I told her to book the Mayan Palace not the Grand Mayan since I read that the Grand Mayan was furthest from the pool and that is where most of the complaints were coming from so here are my questions.

    First;

    What is the best building for her to request since she has two little ones and is nursing and will require several trips back and forth to her room. I read that buildings 1-9 are the best but is there any difference and in priority order which of these buildings should she request?

    Second; She has a two BR lock-off unit. Does the second BR have 1 or two beds since she doesn't want to put the kids in the living room since they go to bed early and wants the living room for her and her husband to relax in the evening and maybe watch some TV after they put the kids to sleep.

    Third; How many beds are in the second BR? Is it one king size or twin beds since she is considering bringing a baby sitter to stay with the 4 year old and baby in the second BR?

    Since I highly recommended this I don't want my kids to be disappointed and try and insure that the Mayan Palace meets their needs.

    Thanks in advance for your anticipated responses.

    We were @ Mayan Palace Maya Riviera Nov - Dec 2008. We were assigned Building 4 on check in but I immediately requested Building 1 and we moved. Perhaps it is because of our age as I was told they try to honor special requests for seniors.

    I have lots of photos of the rooms. Will edit and post the link in a a moment.

    Our room was across from the "show room" so I took photos of that room. So the flowers in the bathtubs etc are only for show.
    Most photos of the pool were taken from the balcony of Bldg 1, Floor 2.

    Second bedroom (lock off or 'hotel room' has TWO double beds. Master bedroom has one large bed. See photos. I think the floorplan should be online too but I don't know if I have it online.

    Reception area for Mayan Palace is between buildings 9 & 10. Building 1 is closest to the Mayan Palace pool. At the reception area entrance you can take transportation to buildings 10- 19 or back to building 1. The courtesy trolleys are similar to ones I remember at Disney World parking lot.

    Grand Mayan has a different reception area. There is a large pool for Grand Mayan only. But they can use the other pools.

    Exchangers wear different color wrist bands then owners and their guests. Last winter the exchangers paid to use the gym but owner's didn't.
