  • Upsetting News about Royal Resort exchanges

Just heard from a mutual friend who is at the Royal Resorts in Cancun this week. When she arrived, she was told the Royals no longer honor the unit number that is on your confirmation. She was moved from one building to another and actually got a higher floor which was nice...BUT, this is not good news for exchangers with confirmed Ocean Front Units.

The LOV Travel group has 2 Ocean Front Units at RC for the end of April....what a disappointment to arrive and be placed somewhere else.

I was under the impression that Royal owners placed THEIR units with the exchange companies - too bad if this becomes the 'trend' for Royal Resorts in the future.

Sounds like they are gearing up for rentals. Rent out the Ocean front upper floors and give the lesser views to exchangers.

I think the current situation is the result of giving replacement weeks to those who lost their week due to Wilma last fall. I would expect this to be a temporary situation and not affect too many exchangers.

Actually it was one week, but to give out 1000 weeks when you have only a few unsold weeks at the Sands must be a nightmare.
