  • GM/mayan Palace 1 in 4 rule?

I know that this has been discussed on the board before and I apologize for posting again if it is here somewhere but could not find it. Every time I try to do a search with 1 in 4 it tells me 1 is too short a word.
Anyway, question is does the 1 in four rule apply accross the board to all GM/MP or is it just certain resort numbers linked together? Seems to me I remembered something about you could still get to some even if you had been to one within the time frame.
Also, I had heard somewhere that they had changed to a 1 in 5 rule but can't place where I heard that either.
This is going thru an RCI trade.

Ken it is one-in-five now but I've heard people getting waived back to one-in-four and allowed the exchange. Of course these folks haven't tried to check-in yet.

Why don't you use another exchange company. The GMs seems to be pretty easy to get. I see them pretty regularly with the indies. The don't worry be happy.

Thanks Lawren, I will probably consider using another exchange co. eventually but right now I have a bunch of RCI deposits. I only have Wyndham points and our main exchange co is RCI. We pay for it in our contract plus I have to use quite a few more points to book a place in Wyndham system then deposit it in say SFX or whatever.
I think I will eventually use another co. to go back to Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay before the 4 years are up there. We really liked it there.
            Anyway thanks for the info.
Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to!!!

I was told when talking to RCI rep that the rule changes at times...I said well that is pretty confusing for us don't you think and the rep said yes us too...one day it is the rule and the next day the rule is waived....pretty positive response ......

bezerk - the 1-in rules do not apply to MP/GM owners. You can use a MP deposit, other deposit, or extra vacation. Yes, you do have to pay the exchange fee, but sometimes it is worth it when you have not been able to use your MP week and had to deposit it. You can also use those other weeks to extend your MP stay. If you own at MP, you can often get a larger unit or a Grand. I have split a 2-bedroom week to deposit (one MF) and then booked 2 1-bedroom units and paid the exchange fees. The 2 exchange fees are less than mf on another ownership unit .
