  • The Royal Mayan

What time is check in and check out at the Royal Mayan? What are the best times to arrive and leave the Cancun Airport? How long should we allow to get through customer and on our way to the resort? How much in advanced of our flight should we get to the airport? We are getting there on Saturday, May 23 and leaving Saturday, May 30, 2009. There will be three groups - one from Nashville, TN, one from St. Louis, MO and one from Detroit, MI.

Officially, 11 AM check out, 4 PM check-in. Best time to arrive is when no other planes are arriving. Expect an hour or more for customs and the trip to the resort. Advance time for getting to the Cancun airport for the return trip will depend on the airline. 2 hours was excessive for continental, while others seemed to be much more tied up.

Check my webpage link(in the signature below) "Your trip to the Royals" for more information on the Royals. Please let me know if anything is different when you return- I think the taco parties have been eliminated.

If you get to Cancun early, can you go ahead and go the Royals and have them hold your bags? Also, if you need to leave late for your flight, can you do the same?

Check in time is 4PM. If you arrive between 12PM and 4PM they will let you go to your room and deliver your bags to your room. The maid may not have been there yet, but you can access your room. If you arrive earlier than 12PM they will store your bags until your room is ready. You can go to the pools or do whatever you want.

You have to leave your room by 11AM when you depart. If you have a late flight they will store your luggage and you can enjoy the resort until you leave. They have a hospitality room where you can shower and change clothes before your departure.

In the process of making flight reservations and some of our group will get to Cancun by 9:00 AM, what can they do?

If they are willing to go 'theme park' for the day, check out:
Xcaret - Cancun most amazing eco archaeological park .

I am a big fan of Xcaret, having been there twice and will be going again in April. However, it is a fair distance from Cancun and an all day affair into the night if you stay for the show which is well worth it.

I would change into my swimsuit and lay by the pool! In July we arrived at the Royal Mayan at about 1:00 and we were able to check in both units. If you get to Cancun about 9:00 you will probably not get to the Royal Mayan until about 10:00 or so. Check in, give them your bags if your room is not ready, and explore the tri-royals, walk the beach, have a nice lunch at the restaurant at the Royal Mayan. Start your vacation relaxation. You could go to Walmart grocery shopping that first afternoon and hopefully by the time you get back your unit would be ready.
                Enjoy!

Pack their swimsuits/cover ups in their carry on bags and enjoy the resort for the day - they will have 'charging privileges' on their room keys and can have lunch and drinks at the resort.
On the other hand, you could give them your shopping list for Walmark. and they could take care of that for you.

Last time, we just made our purchases at the resort grocery store.....easier!
