I remember reading in the Nov/Dec 2007 issue of Time Sharing Today, about some concern that RCI exchanges into The Grand Mayan in Quintana Roo, Mexico were being bumped last minute to the Mayan Palace instead.
The author of the article, Gary Cook, reported that nine days prior to his scheduled arrival, RCI called him to let him know that the resort had cancelled his reservation because it had oversold their rooms, and was offered a unit at the Mayan Palace. In the article he mentioned that other exchangers had similar experiences.
We are looking at exchanging to there for the fall. Was this an issue?, Does this continue to be a problem?
Also, how far is it from the Grand Mayan to the eco-parks, Xcaret, and Xel-ha, and the pyramids?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
