I love my Astro Van, I can pack everyone and everything in it for vacation no matter what month it is.

Based on what you guys have said, it seems like the Riviera Maya GM resort is connected with or shares the grounds with the Royal Mayan. Is it the same in NV - do they share grounds there? We like large resorts, but I hope our room is close enough to the pools and restaurants...

We like to go into town 1 or 2 nights for dinner but the rest of the time we like to go to dinner at the resort so that we can walk back to the room - are there a few restaurants to choose from? John, you had said there were more options at the Riviera Maya...

Also, what should we do in town or in the area?? I heard there were boat cruises for dinner in PV - is this any good?

Do you use the free shuttle to the resort? Is it easy to spot the driver at the airport?

      Thanks
The Nuevo Vallarta location has a distinct separation between the Grand Mayan, Mayan Palace, and Sea Garden though they are all on the same property. At the Riviera Maya location there are separate buildings but not a real separation like at NV.

At NV we took the dinner cruise to an island where they had a buffet dinner and evening show. It was OK but wouldn't do it again. We feel that there are much better attractions at the Riviera Maya. At the Riviera Maya. an absolute must do is the tour of Xcaret. It is awesome. We have also done tours of Xel-Ha, Chichen Itza, Tulum and have visited Cozumel.

We always take the resort's shuttle at the Riviera Maya. You have to e-mail the concierge at the Grand Mayan with your reservation number, names, flight info. They will e-mail you back a confirmation. They are located just out the door at the terminal. Just walk out the door and they will be right in front of you across the road. They will have the resort's logo. Beware that you will be bombarded by people as you walk through the terminal after you clear customs. Just ignore them as they are timeshare sharks trying to sign you up for a presentation by offering transportation. There is no obligation of any kind to use the Grand Mayan's free shuttle.

Grand Mayan or General Motors! I believe the thread is about the Mayan Palace locations or best resort. Quite funny but both good answers.
