I have never been to a timeshare in Mexico. How does maid service work at the Royals?

Other than Sundays and holidays they come in when you leave the room and make beds, replace towels (sometimes creatively) and whatever else needs doing. If they do a good job, tipping is suggested at the end of the week in an envelope provided. Nothing wrong with giving them a little extra in person.
I remember a friend who tipped daily at Club International and had a horde of people spiffing the place up every day.

What is the range for tipping?

Last year the suggested amount to tip was $5.00 per day per 2BR villa. I think it was $3.00 for the 1BR part of the villa. The suggested rate does change some years.

There is a book in each villa with a lot of information about rules, pool and restaurant hours, happy hour, suggested tipping, etc. I'd suggest looking at the book when you first arrive. Then if you have any more questions, ask one of the employees at the front desk. They are quite helpful.

I stayed there for 2 weeks in Feb/March and left $5.00 per day, and an extra $20 on check out day. The maids there do an excellent job! I doubt if resorts pay the cleaning staff much and they have the worst job.
