  • SA rand at 5 year low

Closed yesterday at 8.11- the highest in 5 years. Should it continue to fall against the dollar or the dollar show some strength, there may be a resurgence of SA ownership for US timesharers.

Now's a good time to pay those future levies. That's some good news in these times.

I watched a short training session on Forex. Not my style. I am going to stick to my stock trading. As Cramer would say, and does say "buy buy buy"

Actually at its lowest ever against the Euro, and by a huge amount (1 euro = ZAR 12.8).

Not sure of the economics of your second sentence though. Isn't RCI the architypical market-place driven supply-and-demand? If many US residents purchase in RSA only to trade with and not to use, the trading power of RSA timeshares will drop even further (another Black Sunday) as the market place becomes flooded....

My advice is to use this favourable exchange rate to go there! Your dollar isn't going very far in Europe these days, so go to South Africa instead!

Some South African resorts continue to trade well with RCI and also trade with the independents. As the levy cost falls they become cheaper traders- until inflation and a turnaround in the Rand makes it more expensive.

I own a South Africa resale company, if anyone is looking to purchase or sell S/A that is my specialty...

Also if you are having trouble paying your levies I can help you with that for free !!!

When i first bought SA in 2001 the levy was $145. Now a 2 bdr Red at Lowveld is $290. Still a bargain for what i can trade for with Lowveld.

That was my first thought - pre-pay X 5 years!

Good time to pay fees now as the dollar is a little stronger this week.

I'm trying to pay my 2010 Lowveld MF's right now, and as usual, am experiencing trouble with my Lowveld contact. I have an RCI SA specialist helping me out.

                      Lowveld Lodge Maint Fees

Hi Dori, I have hundreds of customers who have problems with first resorts, the trick is to send a email to their general email box info@firstresorts.co.za

Make sure you include your name, address, phone, RCI#, resort name, week and unit #

If that does not work try using a different email program.

Thanks Marc. I'll try that. Every year it is the same runaround. I haven't had any mail returned, so I assume that they are receiving my pms. Grrr!
