The dollar has weakened against the Rand, and it's not like it used it to be in that RCI now rates SA as it does other resorts in terms of supply/demand. I was lucky in that I bought high demand to begin with -- I have owned a 2 bedroom Gold Crown peak (holiday) week in Capetown that has traded gangbusters. My MFs ranged b/t $375 and $500 US over the years (higher end recently). I am in the process of selling it for $1600 (net to me), so it's not quite a bargain that can't be had in other ways in terms of trading power, but it has been a great value for me over the years, and I am getting back about what I paid for it. There are probably slightly less expensive options that will trade substantially as well, but I wouldn't buy anything other than a SOLID RED or PEAK week in a high demand area if I needed a good trader these days. I am missing my week already, except for the snag I ran into with my most recent deposit:

Watch out for the peak holiday weeks -- they sell at a premium and should trade like tigers in the right locations, but if the holiday or school break falls outside your dates in a particular year.... arf arf. AND the SA holidays/breaks are different than those in the US.

the other issue some SA owners complain about it is the difficulty with some resorts in getting MFs paid and weeks banked, so do your homework.

Thanks for the quick reply. Any ideas as to where to look for sellers?

Cape Escapes handles a lot of SA inventory, I both bought and am selling mine through them. Selling has taken a long time to find a buyer, so if you see something you want, offer on the lower side.

Scott a member here has Foxrun weeks that he wants to give away for free. That might work for you, MF is low but not as low as SA and they trade good,
