  • Question on selling SA timeshare

I have been working with Adrienne Austell at Timeshare Specials and Arrowwood International to sell my SA timeshare. I received notice from Arrowwood that I must send a copy of my passport in order for them to complete the sale and transfer the money. Obviously, in this day and age, I'm a bit leery of sending this information.

Has anyone sold a SA timeshare through this company (or any other company) and been asked to provide a copy of their passport? Do you know why they need this ID? Is some other form of identification also acceptable?

    Any information would be appreciated.

I had to do that when I sold my timeshare through a different SA company. It all worked out.

I've sold an SA timeshare privately and had no such request from the resort for the transfer of ownership. Why not just tell them you don't have a passport.

I sold two weeks back to Timeshare Specials (not through them; to them) and wasn't asked for any documentation of this kind that I can recall. I had bought them from Timeshare Specials originally (back when Herb was still with us, may he RIP), so maybe they didn't require extra paperwork because of that.

I sold three weeks and wasn't asked for anything like that; I had to get my signature notarized; that was pretty much it.

Now Arrowwood need a bank account number!!

Thanks to those who provided info on their experiences. I sent an email to Riana DuPreez at Arrowwood for information on why the passport is needed - specifically, what info do they need. She didn't send me any more details other than she needs the passport to transfer money.

Now she is asking for a bank account number in order to transfer funds!! Red flag to me - no way am I going to give my bank account number out.

So here's another question - how did you receive your payment for the sale of your South Africa timeshare?

              What happened....did you get payment?
